Today I would like to introduce you to the company called Barefoot Yoga Co. that has been in business since 1998. Yoga is something I have been doing for the past couple of years and although I am no where near an expert at it…I do enjoy doing it twice a week. My Review: The generous folks over at Barefoot Yoga sent me their Hybrid Eco Yoga Mat to try out for our review. I was really excited about trying out their yoga mat because mine has seen better days! This yoga mat comes in 11 fun colors and costs $21.95. I am reviewing the spring green color which I love that shade of green! The yoga mat measures 24″ wide x 68″ long in size and is very soft & has a great cushion to it so it’s comfortable to stand on, kneel on, lay on, work-out on and meditate on. It is made from 100% recycled polyester which contributes to it’s strength and longevity. I love that it’s an eco-friendly yoga mat!
The yoga mat comes rolled up during the shipping process and I was worried that it would curl up the first few times I used it…but…I was pleasantly surprised that the mat laid flat the very first time I used it! It has the PERFECT width and length to it and I would say that it is approximately 1/4″ thick. For those of you who need a light-weight mat to take back and forth to yoga classes, this is the perfect mat for you. As I did my yoga routine with my classmates I was very impressed at how comfortable I was standing, sitting, laying down, etc. on this mat. I have heel spurs and my spurs did NOT bother me at all while I was using this mat. That is a HUGE plus to me! The mat has a “checkerboard” type of texture to it so that you are not sliding around on it. In addition, if you do yoga in bare feet like I do…you will not slide or stick to this yoga mat. Again, huge bonus points for that! I LOVE this new yoga mat I received and have been using it at yoga classes and at home when I privately work-out or meditate. I give it a HUGE 2 thumbs up…matter of fact, it is the BEST yoga mat I have ever used!
I also received a 100% silk eye pillow to review for all of you. First of all…I would like to tell you that I am a migraine sufferer. I have suffered for over 20 years with migraines at least hitting me 2-3 times a week. When one strikes I absolutely can not stand any type of light. Their eye pillows are made out of 100% silk and filled with flax seeds and dried lavender. When you place this silk eye pillow across your eyes it feels so great against the skin. It will conform to your shape of face and sit comfortably in place, blocking out the light. They are completely refillable, hand washable and adjustable thanks to the zipper on the side of the pillow. This product costs $19.00 and in my honest opinion, a must have for headache/migraine suffers like myself! BIG 2 thumbs up on this product!

Beachbody products like Turbo Jam, Hip Hop Abs, P90X and maybe a lot of you own some of the products. Beachbody has made a huge impact on the fitness industry in the last few years. They have programs for all age groups, all fitness levels, even kids. Included in the tools they have set up is nutrition assistance with items like vitamins, supplements, protein powders, and meal replacements. That’s where Shakeology comes in.
I was contacted by Jenny Twaddle, a Team Beachbody Diamond Coach. Jenny wanted to send me a weeks worth of Shakeology, meal replacement shakes to sample. She sent me 5 Chocolate and 2 Greenberry Shake packets. The shakes each contain over 70 ingredients including vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, phytonutrients, prebiotics, Amino Acids, digestive enzymes, and protein. It is only 140 calories, has 15-17 grams of protein. Shakeology has the equivalent vitamins & minerals of:
10 Cups of Cauliflower
4 Cups of Broccoli
4 Cups of Mushrooms
4 Cups of Radishes
3 Cups of Lettuce
1 Cup of Peas
7 Carrots
3 Raw Onions
I have been overweight most of my adult life in varying degrees or another, so I know what like replacement meals from other companies taste like. When I first made one of the Chocolate ones, I followed the directions and I chose to make it with milk. You do have to spend some time stirring it, or better results would come with a blender, but I just stirred it myself. The product was thick and very flavorful. It tasted like a real shake, with a little stretch of my imagination. But it was good! It completely filled me up and I was not hungry at all for 4.5 hours. That is a looong time in meal replacement shakes. Most of the others I have used run out after 3 hours or so unless I add protein powder to them. In subsequent days when I made the Chocolate Shake, I did add a bit more liquid to thin it down just a bit.
Jenny also sent me a couple Greenberry ones. I really was not sure what to expect with this one, but it did not sound like it would be good in milk, so I used orange juice to mix with this one. It totally turned the juice green! Hence the name, I suppose. I don’t mind greens, but to some, it may be a bit freaky. The taste was awesome. Really! It tasted just like the name, a Green Berry. It was refreshing and nice. I could actually think about making an adult beverage out of this. A delicious fruit punch! HAHA
The Greenberry mixed up very easily. It didn’t last quite as long as the Chocolate with milk one did, but it was a juice product. I was hungry after about 3.5 hours, which is not bad. I really like this product!
Beachbody recommends using the shakes daily along with exercise 3 days a week. There is a DVD set available for the Shakeology program as well. (you can get them free with the Autoship program) The set of 2 DVDs contains a 30-minute workout sequence and a 50-minute workout sequence. While you’re first starting out, they recommend you do the 30-minute workout three times a week. Then rotate in the 50-minute workout. They also have an eating plan available as well with lots of recipes. There is a whole system online that can help you succeed with these programs. Losing weight and getting fit.
You can log into the Beachbody website and click on “about” and then “join/upgrade” and join the workout gym and log your workouts for free or pay $39 for 3 months. The page details what you get with each account. Every day that you log your workout you are entered to win. Once a week they give away $1,000, one day they do an iPod touch, one day a Sony camcorder, another a Canon digital camera. The remaining days they give away $300.
