Being able to review Escape Your Shape: 21 Day Body Makeover has been amazing. I have needed to escape my shape! I’m not really in shape at all. Well, a circle is considered a shape!

Before I tried the Escape Your Shape 21 Day Body Makeover DVD from Acacia Fitness, I knew that I had certain body sections I had issues with. But I didn’t know that there are certain body types that you do specific workouts for! The body types classified by Escape Your Shape DVD are Hourglass, Ruler, and Spoon. Through their descriptions, I found that I was an Hourglass, where I have overall target spots.

The DVD had scheduled workouts to do throughout the time of 21 days. I would get two different workouts meant for my body type. I would then have a certain day off for my body to recuperate, and then was scheduled a cardio day to do on my own. What was great was that I could choose my own or the DVD provided some ideas I could try.

I have been feeling better already within the first week I have tried it. It was very fast paced but I was able to do modifications on movements I could not do. I noticed that after a couple days I could do the movement better. I am excited to see improvement in such a little bit amount of time. I really loved the idea of what they portrayed as progress—being able to do the workout better or inches, not weight!

Then there was a Level 2, which has been even harder! But it is great because it gives me variety so I don’t ‘plateau’. (It has happened before with some other DVDs that have just one workout) I was really sweating through this workout! Level 2 included fast, heart-pumping aerobic workouts. There was even some mat work, with sit-ups and other abdominal exercises. It was so easy, but they were really effective.

Escape Your Shape:21 Day Body Makeover DVD is the world’s only patented fitness workout based on body type. It was created by Edward Jackowski, PhD. I find it remarkable that there is a body type workout like this. This way, it provides quicker results and able to pinpoint the problem areas! My favorite is that it also shows what exercises to avoid depending on your body type.

So far, I have enjoyed doing the Escape Your Shape: 21 Day Body Makeover DVD. It has been a wonderful guide for my fitness level. I hope I can truly escape my round shape within the estimated 21 days! My results, like any, are on how hard I work for it. I will do my best because it is what I truly want—my health!

I have always thought of a workout with the emphasis on the “work” part because of having to do certain moves, reps, taking a lot of time to work out, etc. I received not one, but TWO workout DVDs from Shazzy Fitness. I was hesitant at first because I have two left feet and do not have any rhythm while dancing! That quickly changed because Shazzy has great instructions with easy to learn moves. They even had one of the instructors, Leslie, teach all of the moves in the Favorite Moves section, which was terrific!

The Origin of Shazzy
The story of the Hebrew prophet, Daniel, is a life model for the power of faith. Despite life threatening circumstances, Daniel never let his fear override his commitment to God. Daniel’s Babylonian name was “Belteshazzar.” (Daniel 1:7) “If Daniel were alive today, we believe his hip-hop name might be… Shazzy.”

One of my favorite stories I was told about as a young girl in church was the tale of Daniel in the Lion’s Den. This was where Daniel was threatened to be killed because of his regular prayer. Regardless of the fear of death, was thrown into a lion’s den. God kept Daniel safe because of his faith in Him.

That is Shazzy Fitness’s main message. “Always be true to yourself. Embrace you and all that comes with you. God is our only judge.” I love that phrase, because it is so important to me to put my faith in Him above all, just like Daniel. Shazzy Fitness is about finding spiritual purpose and walking through the fire (or maybe even a lion’s den) by faith.

The whole point of Shazzy Fitness is: the FUN in it! Is so funky but you can relax and get some sweating going on while you’re groovin’ to the music! Shazzy shows that you can have fun with the hip-hop and rap music with fresh lyrics about life and your beliefs. This is great to show teens (as I was not too long ago) who are stuck facing the challenges to our faiths. Shazzy Fitness knocks the supposed “stuffiness” opinion about Christian music out of the water with its inspirational kick! That is what Shazzy Fitness DVDs are: good modern Christian hip-hop music workouts, more family-friendly but still have an amazing beat and a wonderful message within the lyrics.

There are two DVDs—In the Beginning, which is the beginner’s DVD—and A Time to Dance, the intermediate DVD. On the menu of both workout DVDs, there are two 10-min options. With one sweat-inducing workout within 10 minutes, anyone has time to squeeze that in, no matter how busy you may be! Within each workout, there are easy to follow cues in the first two songs with the moves described by the instructors. The last song in each workout becomes an all-out dance party using all the moves shown in the previous songs and only music, with no instructor’s comments.

I really enjoyed how in almost all of the songs, they have some type of lyrics that mention certain actions that you actually do in the workout, such as “Put your hands up in the air” or the ‘drum-thumping’. It gives a great flow of the workout. It also helps in the learning of the moves!

Although the main type of music used in Shazzy was hip-hop/rap, there were some workouts that had some variety of other types, which was great. There was ‘Bollywood’ style along with some African-based beats in the songs, and their different style moves.

I also liked the cool down, it is great because it allowed the gradual drop of the heartrate with slower moves but it had awesome moves to add as the after workout stretching to avoid injury. When feeling ready to hit the next level, Shazzy included a bonus track workout in the “A Time To Dance” DVD. I feel like I got the most winded out of this one! It was fantastic!

By just logging in to their website, I found other methods of Shazzy Fitness. They have their own blog, with articles about Shazzy Fitness, other user reviews, and more. I even follow them on Twitter and ‘Like’ them on Facebook, because they have great blurbs about dieting, eating healthier, and motivational quotes.

I feel that I have very much benefited from trying both of Shazzy Fitness’s DVDs, spiritually and physically. I can feel it in arms, core, and legs the day after working out. It is an amazing cardio ‘party’, because I did not even feel like I was working out, just having fun and dancing. I even learned some moves that I could take to a real dance floor!

It’s great for any age, fitness level, alone or with a group, just get movin’! With this total body workout, it gives an overall fitness and it is glorious!
