Discovery Extreme Chemistry Kit for Kids

Discovery Extreme Chemistry Kit for KidsLet’s face it…kids these days spend too much time in front of a TV, video game console, smartphone or computer. Children are NOT spending enough time playing outdoors or when they’re indoors…they’re not doing the educational things that they need to do. As parents and grandparents we need to change all of that!!! We need to spend the time and money to make learning FUN again…even at home!

We received the Discovery Extreme Chemistry Kit to review for all of you. This kit is made for children ages 12 years and up. According to the instructions the set up time is 10 minutes. The kit helps children with their STEM (science, engineering, math and technology).

With this kit you can conduct 40 experiments: Create crystal sculptures, do color-changing experiments, create glowing ectoplasmic slime, make creepy worms, create fizzing eruptions, ice melting experiments, collapsing foam, hot ice, a humidity test and more!

The Extreme Chemistry Kit Includes:

Calcium Chloride, Sodium Alginate, Baking Soda, Sodium Tetraborate, Litmus Powder, Tartaric Acid, Zinc Sulfide, Glue Tube, Fuzzy Stick, Black Light Pen, Plastic Cup, Plastic Spoon, Pipette, Plastic Test Tubes, Mixing Sticks, Poster and an instructional sheet.

My husband sat down with our 9 1/2 year old granddaughter to work on some of the science experiments in the kit. All of the instructions for each project are laid out in a way that is easy-to-understand. The Princess would read everything out loud and then we observed and/or assisted her with the project. As we worked on projects she learned the names of different science equipment items and we would quiz her several times to make sure she was retaining what she was learning.

We spent 2 1/2 hours that afternoon working our way through some of the projects. Her favorite project so far was the “Make Your Own Worms” with “Foam it Up!” a close second. The kit is recommended for children ages 12 and up…she’s 9 1/2 and was quite capable of doing the projects with our assistance.

There are 40 experiments you can do with this one kit and so far we’ve completed about ten. This is one science chemistry kit that will keep your kids busy for weeks on end. It puts the fun back into learning and something they can do at home with adult supervision. What a great gift to give!

For the past 9 years I’ve been buying and/or reviewing toys and games from the company called Educational Insights. Holiday Gift Guide 2017I’m the proud grandmother to a 2-year old little boy who is as cute as can be! Luckily for me, he lives nearby and I can spend a lot of time with him throughout the week. Learning Resources has been one of my go-to sources over the past 7 years when I need educational items for my grandchildren. I really appreciate how well their toys are built and that each item teaches the child a variety of different things. Their toys can be passed down from child to the next, making them a great investment.

For this holiday gift guide feature we received the Primary Science Shining Stars Projector to review for all of you. This projector is made for children ages 3 and up and requires 3 AAA batteries, not included to operate it. Perfect item to teach young children cause & effect, language development and how to observe things.  Activity guide is included.

The 5-piece set includes: the portable projector, 3 discs with space images (for a total of 24 different space images) and the storage stand.

The Shining Stars Projector allows children to explore the universe while at home or while on-the-go. It will project the space images onto the wall or the ceiling from up to 10 feet away. The discs feature full-color images of stars, planets, the moon and more!

My grandson sleeps with a nightlight on and I thought this item would make a very cool nightlight in his bedroom. Not only can it function in that manner, you use it to teach your child about our universe…the planets, stars and moons. It has a little carrying handle on the top, so the child can carry it around with them or they can sit it on the storage stand.

The projector has 3 plastic discs, so you don’t have to worry about them breaking. They’re really durable and my grandson is able to easily put them into the projector and take them out. The entire unit is compact in size and light-weight, making it 100% portable. Kids can use it at home, in a preschool classroom, at grandma’s house or take it with you when you travel. The images are crisp, clear and super-colorful. All of the “planet images” in this post are photographs that we personally took of the images on our wall.

You can learn more about the Primary Science Shining Stars Projector by visiting Learning Resources online. You can connect with the company over on Facebook too. What a great holiday gift!
