Sayings & Expressions Stained Glass Patterns by Anna Croyle

I have never tried my hand at “real” stained glass but have always been interested in the artistic medium. With that said, I do dabble from time to time with glass paints that are used to do stained glass type of designs on your windows and mirrors. You can find that paint at most craft stores around the country.

Recently my husband started replacing all of the doors and windows in our home. So far he’s put in 8 new windows and 2 new doors. About 1/3 of what needs to be replaced. The new front door has an arch-style window at the top and I’m going to use glass paints to make a stained glass design. In addition to that project, I want to do a stained glass design on the window in our guest bathroom. I mention all of this because even though this book is for real stained glass artists…you can use the included patterns (designs) and use those glass paints found in craft stores too!

There are 40 designs in the book (patterns) including an alphabet. You can certainly as them as intended or piece together a few of them to come up with your own unique design. You can enlarge or shrink the patterns to suit your own needs. I recommend scanning the design into your computer and then resizing it. Print it out and then tape it up onto the window. Then use the black lead paint and let it dry. Then color in the design with the colored window & glass paints. Of course…if you’re into making “real” stained glass items…these patterns are perfect for you.
