Dollar Bill Animals in Origami Book by John Montroll

Dollar Bill Animals in Origami Book by John Montroll

Last year my husband attended a business meeting for work and came home with a dollar bill that was folded up to look like a swan. Why you might ask? The employees had to take a course on arts & crafts and how they can

Cat Lady Embroidery Book 380 Ways to Stitch a Cat

Growing up in the 1950’s and 60’s every little girl was taught how to sew, cross-stitch and how to do embroidery. I remember my mother sitting down with me for hours and teaching me how to do all of the stitch work by hand. Back

10-Step Drawing Animals Book by Heather Kilgour

10-Step Drawing Animals Book by Heather Kilgour

I admit, I have no artistic talent whatsoever. I enjoy dabbling in arts and crafts, but it’s just not my thing. However, my 9 year old daughter loves various arts & crafts mediums and is pretty good at them.

10-Step Drawing Animals Book by Heather Kilgour

The 10-Step Drawing Animals Book by Heather Kilgour is a wonderful instructional book for older children, teens and adults. The book will teach you how to draw 75 animals in 10 easy steps! All you need to get started is a pen or pencil and a piece of paper.

With this book you’ll learn to create an awe-inspiring array of different animals. Step by step, you’ll create creatures both wild (bald eagle, armadillo, meerkat, dung beetle) and domesticated (donkey, camel, duck, goat). The animals include those from the sea (whale, sea turtle, jellyfish, walrus) and the woodland (snail, fox, raccoon, river otter). You’ll also learn to draw your favorite pets (cat, dog, rabbit, guinea pig).

10-Step Drawing Animals Book

There are step-by-step instructions and diagrams and each animal can be made in just 10 easy steps. The author takes you through each step showing you which element to draw next and where you need to erase your previous lines. She breaks it down into an easy-to-understand format with most of the animals being drawn quickly.

10-Step Drawing Animals Book

My 9 year old daughter has really been enjoying this new book! I went out to a local “discount” type of store and picked up a sketch pad and some new pencils. If you’re giving this book as a gift, I suggest you do the same. She flipped through the book and marked down which animals she wanted to try to draw first. It took her longer to decide on which one, than it did to actually draw the animal! This book is going to keep her busy all summer long!

She finally decided to draw a Giraffe. Last year she spent hours upon hours watching April the Giraffe on the Live Cam and watched the live birth. She loves giraffes, so it was no surprise to me that she started with that section. I think her first Giraffe turned out beautifully. Don’t you? It took her about 40 minutes to draw.

My Little Princess: A Personal Scrapbook

My Little Princess: A Personal Scrapbook

My Little Prince A Personal ScrapbookThirty-two years ago when my daughter was born I was given a Baby Scrapbook to record all of her milestone’s and baby firsts. That scrapbook covered her birth through the first 12 years of her life. Every few weeks I sat down to record everything in that book and when she graduated from high school, I gave it to her. It’s one of our family’s most treasured items.

Now that I’m a grandmother, I had never thought of buying those Baby Scrapbooks to document the lives of my grandchildren. My daughter has them, but I do not. Well, until now.

My Little Princess A Personal Scrapbook

Let me introduce you to the My Little Princess and the My Little Prince: A Personal Scrapbook from Dover Publications. This hardcover scrapbook comes in a little boy or little girl’s version.

Synopsis: A keepsake treasure that makes a great gift for new parents, this hardcover book offers the ideal way to record a child’s important moments from the very start of his life. Whimsical illustrations appear throughout the book, along with fill-in-the-blank prompts that encourage parents to note birth and family information, likes and dislikes, activities, and other details. Envelopes and highlighted areas provide places to preserve photos, hospital IDs, and other precious mementos.

My Little Princess: A Personal Scrapbook

These scrapbooks are hardcover editions and beautifully done! Inside the book you’ll find beautiful illustrations, envelopes & folders to store little keepsakes, areas to write-in your own thoughts and feelings, spots to add your own baby’s photographs and more!

One of the book’s sections focuses on language and baby talk. There are spaces on those pages where you can write in your baby’s first words, funny things that they said, when & where they said it, etc. Another section documents your baby’s physical traits such as their eye color, hair color, hand length and foot length as they grow. There are sections for mom and dad to BOTH fill-in.

My Little Princess: A Personal Scrapbook

I found the “Am I a Little Princess or Messy?” section of the book to be absolutely darling! In this section you’ll document their food likes and dislikes, how they liked to eat their food, favorites and were they a messy or neat eater. There are places where you can add photographs of your little one eating! Way too cute!

In the front of the book you’ll find instructions & tips on how you can make your own YouTube videos, how to download birth announcements, print out fairy tales for bedtime reading, fun recipes, a list of items to pack in baby’s luggage and more. In the very back of the book you’ll find an accordion-style folder where you can add additional keepsakes & photographs.

This baby scrapbook is absolutely beautiful and is extremely well-done! It’s the perfect gift for new parents and/or grandparents like me!
