One of my best facial features happens to be my eyes. On some days they look very green and on other days…they will look more blue. On top of that, I was blessed with pretty almond shaped eyes which goes nicely with my face shape.
To enhance my eyes I look for specific types of eye shadows that will bring out the color of my eyes and make them more intense. I have quite the collection of colors but often find that I learn towards greens, purples and pinks. I do like the neutral tones for daytime use too.
Recently I was introduced to those love eye color palettes from Mary Kay. Each palette contains 5 eye shadows that work perfectly with one another. They totally take the guess work out of it by giving you a lid color, highlighter, contour colors, etc. all in one little palette.
My daughter and I were super excited when 2 palettes showed up for review and had a great time playing with them. We got the Emerald Noir and the Sapphire Noir palettes which are perfect for our skin tone, hair & eye color. Very versatile colors for sure!
What is really cool is that one palette can take you from daytime into nighttime. You can go light with the application for during the day and then really layer on those colors for a night out on the town or for a special party that you are attending.
We decided to wear our new eye shadows for her wedding last month. I am sporting the colors from the Sapphire Noir palette and Jenelle is sporting the colors from the Emerald Noir palette. We think we look awesome!
The Sapphire Noir palette has 4 beautiful shimmer shades: Sapphire Blue, Steel Gray, Metallic Blue and an Icy Shimmering Pink (my description of the color shades). There is a medium matte gray for contouring.
The Emerald Noir palette has 4 beautiful shimmer shades: Copper, Emerald, Teal and a Chocolate Shimmer. There is a taupe/apricot color that is more matte than shimmer in my opinion.

One of the things we really like about the Mary Kay eye color palettes is that once you apply them…they last for a very long time with no touch-ups. I put mine on around 9am for the wedding and didn’t take it off until midnight that night. I didn’t do any touch-ups all day long! Wow, that is impressive!

Getting a beautiful look when applying your makeup is something that most women want to achieve. After all, there are reasons that we wear makeup in the first place. It could be to cover up and hide imperfections like age spots, freckles, discoloration or blemishes. It could be to bring brightness and color to your face. It can also be to just feel great and look fabulous. Mineral makeup is a wonderful way to get a healthy glow and look wonderful in your makeup. I was sent a starter kit from L.A.Minerals to review, check out and share with you.
If you have never used mineral makeup before, a mineral makeup sample starter kit is the way to go and the one from L.A. Minerals is perfect. I was sent the Valley Girl set. It contains several different foundation colors so you can choose the right one for your skin tone. Plus included is a blush color in a neutral tone, their Mineral Veil setting powder and a concealer, a sample of gorgeous eye color and a small applicator brush.
So how do you apply minerals for a smooth, beautiful look? Follow these steps for a fabulous face.
1) Start with a clean moisturized face.
2) Use the Hide It Concealer for any imperfections or discolorations you wish to hide using a small brush. Apply sparingly.
3) Apply foundation with the brush by swirling it around your face, making sure to reach all areas and down slightly onto you neck.
4) Apply any Eye Shadow using a small brush. For intense color, you can slightly wet the brush and apply it.
5) Apply your Bronzer or Blush on your cheek bones with a small brush swirling it up your cheeks.
6) Lips are next using your favorite L.A. Minerals gloss, lip colors or butters.
6) Set your makeup with the finishing powder or Mineral Veil for a long lasting look. You can also use a spray mist to set for all day wear.
What I liked the most about this product is that I only had to apply the color one time to my face and it was there. The L.A. Minerals have more pigment in them than others I have used, I think. I have used minerals where I had to reapply the same areas over and over to get some color on my skin. With this product, it really took me just a few minutes to apply! That was a huge plus.
Also my skin feels soft and supple wearing these minerals. Wearing minerals is great because they will last all day long and I like that I can go out in the evenings with the same face on as during the day. I don’t have to worry that it has faded away. Plus the Vally Girl foundation and concealer are sweat proof and waterproof! Love that, especially in the 100 degree weather we are having!
