Black + Decker Ultra Lightweight Stick Vacuum

Last month I started my spring cleaning for 2021. I do 4 seasonal deep cleanings every year along with weekly cleaning and daily touchups. I like everything to be clean and in it’s proper place. It makes me feel good to keep a clean home which is as germ-free as possible. Unexpected guests? I never worry about them because my home is kept neat and clean.

For the past 2 weeks I’ve been using the Black+Decker Ultra Lightweight Stick Vacuum with 3 in 1 versatility. I had been hunting for a new lightweight vacuum after I fell and busted my arm in two places with 3 surgeries trying to fix the damage. I still use a heavy duty vacuum but wanted something lightweight for daily use and quick touch-ups.

In addition to my injury…we’re pet owners and often find “cat fur” on our rugs and furniture. My husband is currently in the middle of a major remodeling project and is working on our new living room. Dust, dirt, sawdust, cat hair, food crumbs, lint balls, etc. occur daily. I’m constantly cleaning things up.

One of the nicest things about this stick vacuum is it’s versatility. You can use it as a stair vacuum, upright or handheld. You can use it on wall-to-wall carpeting, tile flooring, hardwood floors, upholstery, etc. I’ve been using it all over my home! My cleaning tasks are quicker and easier. Even with a broken arm I’m able to take it from room to room getting things done.

Black + Decker Ultra Lightweight Stick Vacuum

I’ve used the vacuum the past week to vacuum the family room carpet, my hardwood floors in the dining room, the ceramic tile in the kitchen & entryway and I love using it to vacuum our area rugs. Finally a vacuum that gets them clean without trying to pull them into the unit! It glides nicely across all of those different surfaces! I don’t have to stop to change any settings either! I just go!

Romeo (our cat) has been doing a lot of shedding the past 3 weeks (shedding his winter coat) and leaving fur balls and hair all over the carpeting and furniture. I love using the handheld vacuum to clean up our upholstery. It gets all of that fur up in one pass. As pet owners, I think it’s extremely important to keep that under control as fur balls laying around can cause allergies & breathing problems.

I decided to put it through a big test. I got out my heavy duty vacuum and ran that over the carpeting in the living room. When I was done it looked clean. Seriously, it looked clean but wasn’t! I went back over that same carpeting with my new Black+Decker Ultra Lightweight Stick Vacuum and guess what? It got all kinds of dust, dirt and cat fur that the first vacuum had missed! Say what? Yes, first vacuum missed it!

Above you’ll see two photos of my husband emptying the dust bin into our trashcan. As you can see, that first run with my old vacuum missed quite a bit! Geesh. Oh and while I’m talking about the dust bin…it’s super easy to un-attach, empty and re-attach. Wow, we were both really impressed with the job that this light-weight stick vacuum had done!

Different Skips for Different Jobs

Different Skips for Different Jobs

Skips come in many shapes and sizes. Different types can be hired from companies such as skip bins sydney for commercial and domestic use. So, let us explore these different types.

Different Skips for Different Jobs

Mini Skip

These mini skips are ideal for the smaller household jobs. The advantage of them is that they do not take up much space with dimensions of just 3 yards. They can be placed close to a property for easy access and do not get in the way. They are convenient for disposing of lots of smaller items all at the same time, saving you multiple journeys, at cost, to a tip. In terms of capacity they will hold the equivalent of 45 black bags of rubbish.

Builder’s Skip

This is the traditional size of skip, being large enough for the requirements of most small to medium-sized building firms in need of building waste removal Winston-Salem, and around the world. They generally come in 6-yard and 8-yard sizes. They are ideal for both building work and longer-term home renovations where there is a quantity of material to dispose of due to replacement or renewal. The capacity increases to between 65 and 85 black bags of rubbish. The space is sufficient to accommodate the kinds of waste a builder would produce in a single working day.

Large Skip

For larger projects of a building nature, you cannot go far wrong with ordering one of the larger skips. These are generally sized at either 14 or 16 yards. Because of their larger size, the equivalent of approximately 240 black bags can easily be accommodated. They have sides that are higher than a standard skip, which mean that the skip’s contents will be fully enclosed for greater security. It is also possible to have lockable skips in areas where items are known to move from their original positions out of devilment or because of reasons of theft. It can be hazardous to have a skip’s contents too easily accessible. Also, skips can contain items of value where items have been removed from an old property that is being modernized. There might, for instance, be items from a certain period that could be used to renovate a similar property. They will therefore be sought after by other builders and reclamation yards. They can change hands for considerable sums of money in some instances.

Roll-On/Off Skips

Where a large volume of industrial waste is generated, a roll-on/off skip is the one to consider. They offer a very large capacity, and when they are full, can just be rolled straight onto the back of a lorry for quick and easy collection. They are hassle free when lots of trips need to be made involving vast quantities of waste.

If you are not sure what size skip you might need, then ask your skip provider for advice. Alternatively, there are skip volume calculators online that can help you work it out. It is a good guide to think of the capacity, as mentioned above, in terms of number of black rubbish bags. It gives you something visual to think of that is relatable to a home or work situation where rubbish is involved.

So, at least four types of skip to consider. Size is relatable to capacity, and type to convenience and security. The ones with high sides and which are lockable offer the best kind of security. It all depends how long the skip needs to be in position for a specific job and whether it will be left unattended for any length of time. Generally, on a small building job, give or take the lunch time break, it will always be in sight of one builder or another. Where a skip is hired for longer, or left overnight, security of its contents will need to be considered for safety and value reasons.

It is the responsible way to dispose of waste or rubbish, to use a skip.
