How to Clean a Glass Shower Door Quickly and Easily

How to Clean a Glass Shower Door Quickly and Easily

How many of you enjoy cleaning a glass shower door? Okay, no one has raised their hands. I know personally, it’s one of my least favorite cleaning chores. Those glass shower doors get filthy pretty quickly and are typically hard to clean. I don’t know about you…but I don’t have an hour every week to clean it!

A few months ago I started using Dawn Platinum Plus Powerwash Dish Spray to clean the glass door in our master bathroom shower. Yes, you read that right. I’m using Dawn Dish Spray to clean it! Why you might ask? Well, I’m going to tell you. It does the BEST job at removing hard water stains, soap scum, dirt, grime, etc. that seems to accumulate on the glass shower door!

How to Clean a Glass Shower Door Quickly and Easily

Here’s how I go about cleaning the glass shower door quickly and easily.

From Inside the Shower: I spray the Dawn Platinum Plus Powerwash Dish Spray (it comes out like a foam) on the inside of the glass shower door. Just spray it on the dirtiest areas. You don’t need a lot of it. Let sit for 5-10 minutes. Dampen a microfiber cleaning cloth and wipe down the inside of the door. I like to do an all-over wipe down to make sure I get everything off. I don’t scrub or spend a lot of time doing it.

We have a pull-down shower head which I used to spray the inside of the door clean. It doesn’t get overly-sudsy at all. Let all of that product and suds roll right down the shower drain. If you want it to be streak-free…dry the door with a clean cotton towel.

For the outside of the glass shower door I do a similar process. I spray the Dawn Platinum Plus Powerwash Dish Spray onto a damp microfiber cleaning cloth and just wipe down the outside of the glass shower door…moving top to bottom and side to side. Rinse out the cleaning cloth with clean water and wipe it down a second time. Let dry.

The Dawn Platinum Plus Powerwash Dish Spray is fantastic for cleaning up those glass shower doors, tub and sink faucets, the grime that accumulates around the drain and so forth. I use it for all kinds of cleaning tasks around our home besides doing the dishes!!!

Ways to Declutter Your Home Without Feeling Overwhelmed

Ways to Declutter Your Home Without Feeling Overwhelmed

Ways to Declutter Your Home Without Feeling OverwhelmedDecluttering your home can feel like an enormous task, but it doesn’t have to be overwhelming. The key is to break it down into manageable steps and approach it methodically.

Whether you’re in Little Rock, Arkansas, or anywhere else, these strategies can help you achieve a more organized and peaceful living space.

Start Small: The Power of Baby Steps

The thought of decluttering your entire home at once can be daunting. Instead, start with small areas. Begin with a single drawer or a single shelf. By focusing on a small space, you can see immediate results, which can motivate you to tackle more significant areas.

First, empty out the space completely. This allows you to see everything you have and make better decisions about what to keep. Sort items into three categories: donate, keep, and discard.

Be honest with yourself about what you really need and use. If you haven’t used something in over a year, it’s probably time to let it go.

Once you’ve sorted everything, organize the items you’re keeping in a way that makes sense to you. Use containers, dividers, or baskets to keep similar items together. This keeps things tidy and makes it easier to find what you need when you need it.

Donating items can be a great way to give back to your community. In Little Rock, there are many organizations that accept donations, such as Goodwill and Habitat for Humanity. Knowing your items will go to someone in need can make the process of letting go easier.

Utilize Self Storage: A Practical Solution

Sometimes, you might have items that you’re not ready to part with but don’t have space for in your home. This is where self storage can be incredibly helpful. These storage facilities offer a convenient way to keep your belongings safe and accessible without cluttering up your living space.

Look up Little Rock AR self storage on any popular search engine to find storage options in your area.

When choosing a self storage unit, consider the size you’ll need. Make an inventory of the items you plan to store to get an idea of the space required. Select a climate-controlled unit if you want to store items that are sensitive to temperature, like electronics or antiques.

Organize your storage unit in a way that allows easy access to your belongings. Label boxes clearly and keep an inventory list so you know exactly what’s in your unit. Place items you might need more frequently near the front and seasonal or less-used items towards the back.

Using self-storage can also be a temporary solution while you’re decluttering. As you sort through your belongings, you can store items you’re unsure about. After a few months, revisit these items. If you haven’t missed them, it might be time to donate or discard them.

Declutter by Category: A Systematic Approach

Another effective way to declutter is by tackling items by category rather than by room. This method, popularized by Marie Kondo’s KonMari method, involves gathering all items of a specific type and sorting them together. This approach helps you see the full extent of your possessions and make more informed decisions about what to keep.

Start with categories that are easier to sort through, such as clothing. Gather all your clothes from every room in your house and lay them out. This allows you to see exactly how much you have. Sort items into keep, donate, and discard piles. Be ruthless – if something no longer fits or brings you joy, let it go.

Next, move on to categories like books, papers, and miscellaneous items. Each category might take a different amount of time, so don’t rush the process. The goal is to be thorough and intentional about what you keep.

When you reach sentimental items, take your time. These items can be the hardest to part with, so allow yourself to reminisce and decide what truly holds value to you. Remember, it’s okay to keep things that have deep personal significance, but try to limit it to a manageable amount.

Decluttering by category helps streamline the process and prevents you from becoming overwhelmed by focusing on one type of item at a time.

Create a Maintenance Plan: Keeping Clutter at Bay

Once you’ve decluttered your home, the next step is to maintain it. Without a plan, it’s easy for clutter to creep back in. Establishing a maintenance routine will help keep your space tidy and organized.

First, implement a “one in, one out” rule. For every new item you bring into your home, let go of an old one. This prevents accumulation and encourages you to think critically about new purchases.

Regularly schedule decluttering sessions. These don’t have to be extensive – setting aside even 15 minutes a week can make a big difference. Use this time to go through areas that tend to accumulate clutter, such as your entryway or kitchen counters.

Involve your family in the process. Assign specific tasks to each member, such as sorting mail or organizing their own spaces. This lightens your load and teaches everyone the importance of maintaining a clutter-free environment.

Digitize where possible. Paper clutter can quickly get out of hand, so consider scanning important documents and storing them digitally. This reduces physical clutter and makes documents easier to find.

Lastly, be mindful of what you bring into your home. Before making a purchase, ask yourself if you really need the item and where it will go. Being intentional about your possessions helps maintain the order you’ve worked hard to achieve.

Embrace the Benefits of a Clutter-Free Home

Decluttering your home might seem like a monumental task, but by starting small, utilizing self storage, decluttering by category, and creating a maintenance plan, you can achieve a more organized and peaceful living space. Remember, the goal is to create a home that supports your lifestyle and brings you joy.

In Little Rock, AR, self storage can be a valuable tool in your decluttering journey, offering a practical solution for items you’re not ready to part with but don’t have space for. By taking a systematic approach and maintaining your progress, you’ll find that decluttering becomes less overwhelming and more rewarding.

A clutter-free home isn’t just about having a tidy space – it’s about creating an environment that enhances your well-being and allows you to focus on what truly matters. So take that first step and enjoy the benefits of a decluttered, organized home.

Conclusion

Decluttering your home can feel overwhelming, but you can simplify the process by starting small, utilizing self-storage, and tackling items by category. Maintaining a clutter-free home requires routine, mindful purchasing, and regular decluttering sessions. Creating an organized environment brings peace and joy and keeps your home pest-safe and functional. If the task feels too daunting or if pest issues arise, seeking professional help can ensure your home remains tidy, healthy, and organized for the long term.
