Mr. Biggs in the City Children’s Book Book Review

Today I would like to introduce you to the children’s book author named Kevin Bloomfield who just had his first children’s book launched by Raven Tree Press called Mr. Biggs in the City. This hardcover children’s book is a story in English and in Spanish and has 33 beautiful pages. The ISBN: 978-1-936299-24-9 and it retails for $16.95.

About the Author: Kevin Bloomfield graduated from the Art Institutes International in 2001. He has been inventing & designing children’s toys for about 10 years. His toy career has taken him all over the world, including China & France, where he has had the chance to experience different cultures & interesting food. He currently lives near Los Angeles, CA. with is beautiful wife and two young daughters.

Book Synopsis: Mr. Biggs is a very curious Sasquatch who has huge feet & an even bigger heart. One day, when he climbs to the tippy top of the tallest tree in all of the forest, he spots a city. Join Mr. Biggs on his journey as he tries to shred on a skateboard, jam in a rock band, twirl in a ballet tutu and much more! Will the giant Mr. Biggs find out that he fits in the city…or is he just too big? Mr. Biggs in the City is a hilarious & heartwarming story for both the young and young at heart, with vividly wacky illustrations that will make you laugh out loud with every page turn.

Our Review: We received the Mr. Biggs in the City book from author Kevin Bloomfield in record shipping time! Kevin was gracious to even autograph the book for us and the book now belong to my 28 month old grand daughter and is in her library collection. The book starts out with an introduction to Mr. Biggs who is an over-sized Sasquatch who spots the city from a tree and ventures into the city to see if he can find some fun. He tries out various occupations and activities but isn’t having any fun. At the end of the book he is sitting down crying and a group of kids spot him and come over to play with him. They have a great time so Mr. Biggs decides he is now having fun in the city with the kids.

The book is absolutely beautiful! I love all of the colorful illustrations in this book that are cute and hilarious! The text is easy to read & understand and every child will understand the story as it is read to them or once they start to read it themselves. In the very back of the book is a little English to Spanish translation which is fun to view so that your kids can pick up a few words in Spanish or English. On each page of the book the text is in English and in Spanish so it’s a great bilingual book for kids. We absolutely love this book and it has quickly become one of the wee one’s favorite books! We give it a huge two thumbs up!

Potty Training Little Ones Book by Galloping Minds

Potty Training Little Ones Book by Galloping Minds

Potty Training Little Ones - Book ReviewToday I would like to introduce you to the company called Galloping Minds who sells a variety of DVD’s, Books and Flash Cards that are all geared towards babies, preschoolers and toddlers and for both boys and girls.

My Review: The generous folks over at Galloping Minds sent me their hardcover book called “Potty Training Little Ones” which sells for $14.99 each. This is a great book for parents to use as a “tool” to help potty train their child. The front of the book has a few potty training tips and then it goes into the “story” of this little girl learning to use the potty. The book is designed in 2-page spreads…so the page on the right is in full color and the matching page on the left is in black & white is a coloring page. As your child sits and reads this book they can color on the matching pages. In the back of the book is a 2 page potty chart and each time that your child uses the potty, they can color in one of the squares or you can purchase a pack of stickers and stick them onto the squares to track their progress.

The story is about a little girl named Anna who is learning how to use the potty and her mother takes her shopping to let her pick out her own big girl potty. Once home, her mommy shows her how to sit on the potty to go poo & pee, how to wipe afterwards and how to wash & clean her hands when she is finished. As she is learning her mom praises her for her accomplishments and she downplays her accidents and constantly encourages Anna to go onto the potty successfully. (sorry about my camera flash wiping out some of the photos).

We are potty training a 26 month old girl and since receiving the book we have read it to her several times. She loves to sit on her “big girl potty” and have us read the book to her and at times she will sit on her big girl potty and color on some of the coloring pages. I love this simple easy to read storyline which is at a 2 year olds level and I love that the book has thicker pages to help prevent tearing by little toddler hands. I think the illustrations in the book are just adorable and go really well with the storyline.

Overall Impression: We love this potty training book! Unlike other books I have seen, this one is totally geared at the 2-3 year old and is simple enough for them to understand. (unlike other books that are way beyond a 2 year olds comprehension, this one is right on target!). We give this Potty Training Little Ones book by Galloping Minds a huge 2 thumbs up! You can purchase this book directly from their web site for only $14.99.

Giveaway: This giveaway will have 5 lucky winners and each winner will win a copy of this wonderful hardcover book!!!
