Storm of the i: An Artobiography – Book Review

Thousands of books are published every year, but it’s not very often that someone creates a new genre of literature. Boulder artist and author Tina Collen, however, has indeed broken new literary ground with her unique memoir Storm of the i: An Artobiography. The book

Everything I Know About Love I Learned from Romance Novels

I would like to introduce you to Author, Sarah Wendall, who along with being the co-founder of the popular romance review website SmartBitchesTrashyBooks has most recently released the book entitled “Everything I Know About Love I Learned from Romance Novels”.

My Review: I will admit right from the beginning, I was not a romance novel enthusiast. I agreed to review this book, but felt it might be from a skeptic’s point of view. However, even the review in the press release said, “…general readers will appreciate its reflective nature; and it may even cause those who have dismissed romance novels as worthless pabulum to think again.” Therefore, I did go into reading the book with more of an open mind. And I am glad I did. Having read her book, I’m more open to reading romance novels, than I have been in the past.

In her book, romance readers and authors (including Nora Roberts) share their stories and lessons learned, plus reasons why romance is important to them. Each one has their own perspective that all together made me into much less of a skeptic. This book helps shine a spotlight on the romance community, describing how positive, powerful, and amazing romances really are.

I will be passing this book on to my Sister, who is a big romance novel reader, as I am sure she will have even more of an appreciation of this book than I did. Buy a copy for yourself, and the Romance Novel lovers in your life. “Everything I Know About Love I Learned from Romance Novels” was published last week, on October 4th, and is available for sale at Amazon for the current price of $10.08, down from the list price of $14.99.

I took Sarah’s quiz, and now have an exact idea of “the type of romance novel” I am, and will take that as a direction to go in the next time I am looking for a good book to read. So which kind of romance novel do you think you are? You will have to read the book to find out! 😉

Mr. Biggs in the City Children’s Book Book Review

Today I would like to introduce you to the children’s book author named Kevin Bloomfield who just had his first children’s book launched by Raven Tree Press called Mr. Biggs in the City. This hardcover children’s book is a story in English and in Spanish and has 33 beautiful pages. The ISBN: 978-1-936299-24-9 and it retails for $16.95.

About the Author: Kevin Bloomfield graduated from the Art Institutes International in 2001. He has been inventing & designing children’s toys for about 10 years. His toy career has taken him all over the world, including China & France, where he has had the chance to experience different cultures & interesting food. He currently lives near Los Angeles, CA. with is beautiful wife and two young daughters.

Book Synopsis: Mr. Biggs is a very curious Sasquatch who has huge feet & an even bigger heart. One day, when he climbs to the tippy top of the tallest tree in all of the forest, he spots a city. Join Mr. Biggs on his journey as he tries to shred on a skateboard, jam in a rock band, twirl in a ballet tutu and much more! Will the giant Mr. Biggs find out that he fits in the city…or is he just too big? Mr. Biggs in the City is a hilarious & heartwarming story for both the young and young at heart, with vividly wacky illustrations that will make you laugh out loud with every page turn.

Our Review: We received the Mr. Biggs in the City book from author Kevin Bloomfield in record shipping time! Kevin was gracious to even autograph the book for us and the book now belong to my 28 month old grand daughter and is in her library collection. The book starts out with an introduction to Mr. Biggs who is an over-sized Sasquatch who spots the city from a tree and ventures into the city to see if he can find some fun. He tries out various occupations and activities but isn’t having any fun. At the end of the book he is sitting down crying and a group of kids spot him and come over to play with him. They have a great time so Mr. Biggs decides he is now having fun in the city with the kids.

The book is absolutely beautiful! I love all of the colorful illustrations in this book that are cute and hilarious! The text is easy to read & understand and every child will understand the story as it is read to them or once they start to read it themselves. In the very back of the book is a little English to Spanish translation which is fun to view so that your kids can pick up a few words in Spanish or English. On each page of the book the text is in English and in Spanish so it’s a great bilingual book for kids. We absolutely love this book and it has quickly become one of the wee one’s favorite books! We give it a huge two thumbs up!

I would like to thank Kevin Bloomfield for sending me the product(s) to review for all of you! We love your products!
