I have been having a terrible time this winter and into spring is super dry skin. It is not something that I normally have at this level. My feet and legs usually see the brunt of it, but now it is all over. So I am going through oils and lotions like crazy to combat it. But today I found a delightful natural handmade body scrub that has become my new best friend!
Naki Nagi [pronounced Na-Kee Na-gee] is a combination of the Hebrew word “Naki”, meaning clean, and “Nagi”, the Russian word for legs. The name blends the cultures that define the owner, Jewish and Russian, along with her love for her two Siberian cats – Mishka and Gorbie (short for Gorbachev)LOL. Rachel Rekhter combined her MBA in Marketing with her culinary background to create an amazing scrub and flavors that smelled good enough to eat!
I was sent a jar of Espresso, a Sea Salt Scrub to sample for you. This scrub is made with fresh ground coffee and a hint of vanilla. The caffeine in coffee awakens your body, and promotes cellular function, and vanilla is high in antioxidants and promotes relaxation. When I first opened this jar, I was impressed by the thickness of the product. It is super dense but there is not a huge amount of oil floating on top, which I see in a lot of scrubs. And the scent… Simply amazing! Even though it is a coffee based product, it did not smell overly like coffee. It has a beautiful aroma of vanilla and coffee combined and is so refreshing!
Naki Nagi makes the base the same way. It is comprised of a proprietary blend of Sea Salt or Sugar, Grapeseed Oil, and Antibacterial Soap. Grapeseed oil is the lightest of all oils, and is quickly absorbed by your skin. Grapeseed oil relieves redness and other skin conditions, and also has anti-aging, anti-inflammatory, and anti-oxidant properties. The antibacterial soap cleanses your skin from bacteria, and together they create a scrub that rinses clean, without excess oil.
Most companies use either sugar or salt in their scrubs as they both have properties that make them super performers on your skin. Sugar is ideal for those with sensitive skin. The alpha-hydroxy acid nourishes and replenishes your skins moisture, leaving you with a fresh glow and smooth skin. Sugar scrubs are wonderful for your face and lips, and can be used on children.
Sea Salt is ideal for people who want a therapeutic scrub that removes toxins and impurities from their skin. Sea salt is shown to improve blood circulation, reduce stress, and can even provide relief for skin conditions such as psoriasis and eczema.
I am in awe of this awesome product! I did a test on my hand with this when it came just to see how much my skin needed this scrub. I applied some to my hand and let it soak in for a minute or so. I rinsed it off. I immediately saw an amazing difference in my dry skin on that hand. All of the super dry wrinkles that you get on your hands and arms were gone and 6 hours later, they were still gone! I couldn’t wait to use this on my body!
In the shower this scrub is a dream come true. I really like that is is not super oily. That tends to make it very slippery in the shower. You still have to be careful! I also love that the salt crystals are not extra large. They are small just like the espresso bean grind so you are not scraping your skin although you do have to be careful if you use the salt scrub on your face. This is a more delicate area.
This felt so wonderful on! I just love how it made my skin feel after the application. For hours later, I could feel how soft my skin was just from one use and when I followed it with a lovely butter or lotion, it felt even more fabulous. Now that I have used it several times, I am more in love with it that before! Honestly, I think this is up there on my list of some of the best scrubs I have ever used!

Today I would like to introduce you to the company called G.B. ProudFoot’s Natural Body Care Products based out of the great state of Arizona. I used to live in AZ. many years ago so I was super excited to review some products from Arizona for all of you today.

My Review: The generous folks over at G.B. Proudfoot’s sent me several full-size products to review for all of you. The first product is their Natural Liquid Soap in the Southwest Citrus Scent. This liquid soap comes nicely packaged in a pump spray bottle which makes it super easy to use. It is all-natural, free of synthetic preservatives, colors and fragrances. It has a wonderful light natural citrus scent to it that is very pleasant to the senses. It has a very nice consistency and texture to it and I love that it doesn’t make a gazillion bubbles that take a long time to rinse away. This liquid soap has a nice scent and quickly rinses away without leaving any sticky residue behind.
The Original Calendula Super Salve is packaged in a nice 4 oz. sized jar with screw-top lid. This is a 100% natural product that is family made. It contains the skin mending ingredient Calendula mixed with the moisturizing ingredients of olive oil and jojoba oil and we all know how moisturizing those oils are for our skin! This salve can be used on stretch marks, dry chapped skin, cracked hands & feet or any other skin problem that needs help to heal. My 26 yr. old daughter had a baby 2 1/2 years ago and got nasty stretch marks so she took this product away from me! She has been applying this onto all of those stretch marks on her belly for the past 11 days, twice a day and she is very pleased with the results. She said a little tiny bit goes a long way.
The Lemon & Honey Sugar Body Scrub comes packaged in a nice 8 oz. sized jar with screw-top lid. This is a 100% natural product with a sweet lemon honey scent. It contains natural cane sugar, honey, coconut oil, jojoba oil and a few other good for your skin ingredients. I have been using this sugar scrub in the shower for the past 8 days and love it! It has a pleasant sweet lemon scent and you simply rub it onto your skin in a circular motion and then rinse it away. I have been using it on my feet and it has done an excellent job at sloughing off those dead skin cells. Just what my feet needed to prepare for the spring & summer sandal wearing season!
I received 2 natural deodorant sticks to review for you with one being in the Vanilla & Orange scent and one being in the Lime & Clove scent. Each one is packaged in a classic-styled twist up deodorant tube. I have always wanted to try a natural deodorant so I was super excited about these 2 products. These deodorants are 100% natural, paraben-free and contain no propylene glycol. I used one for 4 days and then switched to the other one for 4 days so I could get a “feel” for both. If you like cool & fruity scents you will love the Vanilla & Orange and if you tend to like the warmer slightly spicy scents you will love the Lime & Clove. These deodorants do an excellent job of fighting perspiration and keeping you dry. In addition, I found that my arm pits were not dry and irritated at all which they get that a lot from store bought deodorants. I can also apply this deodorant immediately after shaving and get no after-shaving burn! yeah!!! I love them!
Finally…I got the Calendula Stick Balm with Shea Butter & Jojoba for my review. Since my daughter ran off with the Calendula Salve…this one was for me and I wasn’t giving it up! It is made from all-natural ingredients and you can use it just like the salve above but personally…I find it much more convenient for us in this stick form. I have had a lot of surgeries the past 20 years (more than 35 of them) so I have a slew of nasty scarring all over my chest and abdomen. I have been applying this stick balm over those areas to try and get the scarring to look a little better and to also moisturize the scars which are always dry and peeling. After just 9 days of use I can honestly tell you that the peeling has stopped and my scars are still ugly but…the skin and tissue around them looks moisturized and more healthier. yeah!!!!
