A few weeks ago I was in Dollar Tree and purchased a few packages of the plastic suncatchers that you can find in their arts and crafts aisle. They come in various designs and are made out of a clear plastic material. Depending on the package, you can get 3-4 of them in one pack for $1.25.

As I went up and down the aisle I couldn’t find any paints that were suitable for the suncatchers. You really want to use a translucent type of paint made specifically for them. After I got home I went onto Amazon and found exactly what I needed and for a great price! I purchased Bearals Stained Glass Paint. If you don’t want to buy separate materials you can certainly buy a kid’s stained glass suncatchers kit.
This type of kid’s craft project is perfect for those days when the kids are stuck inside and you need to keep them busy. It let’s them explore their creativity while making something pretty. They can hang up their completed sun catchers onto any glass or smooth surface like a mirror or window.
Follow the instructions on the paint bottle. You simply just squeeze the colored painted into the cavity (open area) of the sun catcher. To remove air bubbles you can poke them with a wood toothpick if they bother you. You can combine 2 colors together by squeezing one color into the cavity and then the second one. Use the toothpick to swirl the two colors together.
Let the suncatchers dry on a flat surface for 6-12 hours or until the paint is thoroughly dry. Once dry you can hang them up! My children love sitting down and working on this particular craft project several times every year.

Reading glasses have become part of my daily life. I wear them when I’m using my computer, tablet, phone, reading a book, looking at a recipe, putting on make-up and other sorts of tasks. I just can’t see clearly without them when I’m trying to read fine print. Sure, I could run out to the eye doctor and spend hundreds of dollars on prescription glasses, but for now I’m quite happy wearing reading glasses.
