Break Out Your Bundt and Try 101 Things to Do with a Bundt Pan

101 Things to Do with a Bundt Pan by Jenny HartinWhen I think of a Bundt pan, I think of cake. But it turns out that these beautiful Bundt pans are a lot more versatile than that, as evidenced by all the clever ideas for using them in a new book, 101 Things to Do with a Bundt Pan by Jenny Hartin (Gibbs Smith, August 2019).

You will not believe the variety of recipes in this cute little book! Of course there are Bundt cakes galore, but Hartin empowers us to make all sorts of other sweet and savory recipes in our Bundts.

The chapter titles and a sample recipe from each tell the story:

• Breads: Everything Bagel Loaf
• Monkey Breads: Strawberry Shortcake Monkey Bread
• Bread Puddings: Cranberry Bread Pudding
• Breakfasts: Veggie Breakfast Casserole
• Appetizers & Party Treats: Holiday Ice Mold
• Side Dishes: Macaroni and Cheese Bundt
• Dinners: Chicken Enchilada Casserole
• Cakes: Easy Ice Cream Cake
• Desserts: Cherry-Almond Gelatin Mold

101 Things to Do with a Bundt Pan by Jenny Hartin

What an eye-opener! And that barely scratches the surface. Honestly, with 101 Things to Do with a Bundt Pan, you’ll never look at your Bundt pans the same way again.

The author has also included helpful hints, describing how to prepare Bundt pans for cakes or for savory recipes so the finished product will release successfully from the pan, as well as different methods for checking for doneness. She recommends her favorite brands for pans and for key ingredients, as well.

Nearly all of the recipes call for a 12-cup Bundt pan, although a few use a 6-cup or 10-cup Bundt. Unfortunately for me, all three of my Bundt pans are 10-cuppers, so I’ve put a 12-cup Bundt pan on my wish list and hope to find one with a big bow on it under my Christmas tree—LOL!

101 Things to Do with a Bundt Pan is part of a series of books from Gibbs Smith publishing. Previous titles in the series include 101 Things to Do with: Beer; Rice; A Toaster Oven; Rotisserie Chicken; A Sheet Pan; and many more. All of these books are wire-bound (a nice feature, as they lay flat on the kitchen counter), and they keep it simple with just the recipes and no pictures. We’ll be featuring another fun “101 Things to Do” book soon, so be sure to keep an eye out for that! In the meantime, you might be interested in browsing the collection at the website of the publisher, Gibbs Smith, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. Visit them on Facebook, too.

If you’re a cookbook fanatic, Jenny Hartin may be familiar to you. She is the founder of the online community The Cookbook Junkies (I’ve been a member of that Facebook group for years!), and she’s also the Director of Publicity at Eat Your Books, a resource for cookbook lovers. 101 Things to Do with a Bundt Pan is her first cookbook.

The Art of the Formula 1 Race Car Wall Calendar

We are big Formula 1 racing fans in our house, so we’ll be hanging this beautiful 16-month calendar in a central location where we can admire and use it from now through December 2020. It features 13 different Formula 1 race cars spanning 55 years, from the 1957 Vanwall VW9 (July) driven by Stirling Moss and Tony Brooks to the 2012 McLaren MP4/27 (December) driven by Jensen Button and Lewis Hamilton. Each photograph is accompanied by a short history of the featured car, including the constructor, engine supplier, drivers, and fun facts. My favorite? It’s too hard to choose just one. I love the 1993 McLaren MP4/8 (April) because it was driven by my all-time favorite driver, Mika Hakkinen (not to mention Ayrton Senna and Michael Andretti), but the 1981 Lotus 87 (October), better known as the John Player Special, is definitely a show-stopper.

The Art of the Formula 1 Race Car Wall Calendar

I know we all have calendars on our phones and computers these days, but I still like to keep a nice wall calendar as well. I find it useful to be able to glance at it every time I’m nearby, as it helps me to keep track of events, appointments, deadlines, and everything else we’ve got going on. It’s also helpful that the calendar is pre-filled with holidays from around the world as well as the phases of the moon. Plus, it’s always fun to flip it to a new month and enjoy the next beautiful picture, too!

The Art of the Formula 1 Race Car calendar is just one of several automotive calendars published by Motorbooks, a division of the Quarto Group. As you might guess, Motorbooks specializes in books about transportation. If you’re looking for a gift for the car lover in your life, you’ll want to check out Motorbooks’ catalog, and of course, you might also want to browse the other fabulous offerings from Quarto.
