Moving can be stressful, right? I have been there and I know it can be an absolute headache. We all have had to move at one point or another. Either to a new home, a new office, or maybe you’ve only helped others move. Either way, you know that it can be stressful, time consuming, and simply exhausting. You’ve already double checked everything, making sure that your new home or office is in good shape, and before you know it, the moving phase has snuck up on you. What do you do about it? Let’s talk about it! Here are 4 tips to make moving easier for yourself.
Start packing early
Packing early can be a massive lifesaver! It helps you figure out the items you want to take with you, and it also helps you to become more relaxed while packing. Most importantly, it helps take the stress of last minute packing off your plate. I hate packing at the very last minute. The panic, tension, and rush that comes with trying to get everything packed in a short time is not (by any means), my favorite thing. In fact, it is one of my most dreaded things, ha! With that being said, make sure you pack early. If you are going to move 2 months from now, start packing 1 month prior to the day you are going to move. When you start packing early, you’ll have enough time to pack and make sure you aren’t leaving anything important behind. Plus, you’ll be able to pack more effectively as opposed to packing everything all at once within a short period of time.
Hire professionals movers to do it for you
If you want a really seamless moving experience, your best bet is to definitely hire professional movers. If you are in the area, Bluebell Relocation Services is a great option to look into. As a NJ interstate moving company, they are fully knowledgeable and experienced when it comes to not only long-distance moving, but also local moves, storage solutions, and help with packing, too. They respect set deadlines, make a detailed plan to help make your move as smooth and stress-free as possible, and they can help walk you through the entire process from start to finish. Plus, you’ll get affordable rates and you won’t have to spend the time or energy lifting a finger yourself! Moving is hard as-is. Don’t make it harder on yourself!
Use boxes and other creative items
Boxes for packing never go out of style. Do they? I love boxes because they are such a great way to get organized. When packing for a move, use boxes and label each of them based on their content. You can put all your skirts in a box and give that box the label “skirts“. Boxes help you be more organized with your packing and they help protect your items. Also, they are cheap, light weight and they have little to no negative impact on the environment. What better way is there to have your things organized and nicely packed while making sure the environment is protected than using boxes?
Toss out any unwanted items
When moving, it is important to take only items that you need. Taking irrelevant things or things that you do not need will only make the whole process of packing and moving in more difficult. Do away with those things you do not need. If possible donate them to those who would need them, sell or throw them away. Cut back on all clutter. By doing so, you’ll have less to move and you’ll start off with your new place on a clean and more organized note.
While I’ve only given you 4 tips to make moving easier for yourself, there are so many moving tips out there that can help make the process less stressful and more fun (dare I say it?). As I mentioned, if you really want to ensure a stress-free process, then you’ll want to hire a professional moving company. Without one, you have to do all of the heavy lifting yourself and who wants to spend time doing that? Enjoy this process – moving to a new home is so exciting and rewarding, so soak it all in!
These are all good tips. I have used them when I have moved and It does make moving easier.
I have a family member who is moving and these are helpful suggestions. It is a good opportunity to get rid of stuff that is no longer useful. Everything goes into one of three piles- keep, give away or toss.
I used to not mind moving. This last one though with 30 years of stuff has gotten me. I hate it. So much junk. I also figured out hubby saves everything. I have to throw junk away when he was away.
These are great suggestions. I have moved many times and it is always crazy. Organization and time are your friends.
