If you have been following our blog for the past few years you will already know that I absolutely love gardening! Every year I plant 1-2 vegetable gardens and 4+ flower gardens here at our home.
My floral gardens start showing some beautiful spring blooms in late March with my daffodils, hyacinths and mini grape hyacinths. Once they are done…my tulips then kick into action.
About 2 weeks after my tulips are done blooming my Iris’ kick into high gear! I have them planted in 2 different spots here on our property. I’ve got the dark purple, light purple, peach and yellow varieties. The Iris is one of the easiest spring flowers to grow!
Personally, I like planting 10-12 plants in one particular area. I like seeing them grouped together and the colors mixed. In this photo above you will see my yellow and purple ones which I just love! If you look really closely you will see that it had just rained and there are rain drops still on their petals.
Anyway, for my “almost” Wordless Wednesday post for today…I thought I would share one of my Iris photos with all of you. I took this picture during the month of May and I am already missing their beauty. Oh well, I will see them again next year!
This iris is a beautiful shade of yellow, but I think I like your purple iris even more. You should post a photo of,the whole area with the 10 to 12 plants.
Few flowers are as pretty as irises, with their intricate patterns on the petals. I love how bright and happy your yellow iris is! Your garden must be just lovely, with something always blooming or ready to be harvested.
My grandma used to grow purple irises. These are really pretty!
Beautiful photo and I love the raindrops on them. A vegetable garden and 4 flower beds is sure a lot of work but I bet it is worth it.
I love irises. What a lovely photo.
That is a spectacular photo. I love iris and always enjoy spring more when they’re blooming.
I do enjoy my summer gardening. When we moved to our new house I brought quite a few of my irises to the new place. Fingers crossed most of them come up next spring!
I told my mom and sister about your last iris post and how I was trying to remember where we had the purple and yellow irises planted, since I was a kid. She had me on speaker phone so we had a good time trying to remember all the plant life around our first house. Good times.
