Hi, my name is Shelly and I’m a candle snob! Yes, I admit it. I don’t buy the cheap ones that you find in discount “mart” and “big box” stores. Why? First, they quality. They typically don’t burn evenly and they throw off a lot of soot. Second, they might smell good at the beginning but the scent is depleted an hour later. Third, I prefer more natural ingredients and less chemicals in any type of product that I’m using.

Let me introduce you to Virgin River Naturals….a wonderful company that makes high-quality candles and room sprays. These are artisan made products with the candles being made with all-natural wax blends. I think you’re going to love them!
Here’s some information about the company.
The brand is hand-poured in small batches in St. George, Utah, with a proprietary wax blend of natural soy, coconut, and organic Utah beeswax, cotton wicks, phthalate-free fragrance oils, and recycled glass jars with cork lids. The scents are place-based, Canyonlands, Blue Spruce, Desert Rose, Emerald Pools, so the line tells a clear story of the American Southwest rather than reaching for a vague “spa” or “Parisian” feel. The brand is also a 1% for the Planet member.
My Thoughts
Virgin River Naturals sent us a Sweet Fig and Black Currant Candle to review for all of you. The wax is a combination of soy, beeswax and coconut. It’s an 8 oz. size which is absolutely perfect for any space in your home and/or for gift-giving. The candles come beautifully packaged! As soon as you open the package you know you’re getting something special.
In our home I use ONLY natural-based candles. Candles that contain chemicals in the wax and/or in the fragrance give me headaches…something I don’t enjoy. If that sounds like you…YOU WILL NOT EXPERIENCE THAT with Virgin River Naturals. Nope, not at all. The Sweet Fig and Black Currant is a beautiful fragrance. It’s not over-powering at all. It’s a light sweet and woody type of fragrance. When I walk into the room I find it to smell fresh, clean and the fragrance gives me an overall relaxed feeling.
We use candles 2 different ways in our home. We burn them like a traditional candle and we also place them under a candle warmer lamp…depending on our mood.
Burning…it burns evenly and slowly. I really appreciate that! There’s no soot at all. You smell the beautiful fragrance from the top and it continues the whole way through the candle. The fragrance lasts for a few hours even after you extinguish the flame. If you’re a candle lamp and warmer fan…these candles work equally as well with those. I found the wax to melt slowly and evenly giving off fragrance the entire time.

Over the past week or so I’ve really enjoyed testing out this candle from the company. The quality is exceptional! The packaging is beautiful. The entire experience has been impressive! I would not hesitate to buy from this company for my personal enjoyment or to give as gifts!
