If you’ve been following this blog you already know that I enjoy visiting thrift stores, yard sales, flea markets, antique stores, etc. I’m always looking for a great bargain! Thrift shopping has become a big trend in the past few years but I’ve been shopping them for the past 30 years! Unlike the majority of thrift shoppers you see flooding social media channels and the internet…I’m NOT a reseller! I keep what I buy or I give as gifts.

Last month I picked up several things…so I’ll just show you my favorite 3 things from that particular shopping trip.
First…I got a genuine stainglass window hanger with a beautiful dolphin design. It’s a nice larger size and semi-weighty. I gave it a good cleaning after I got it home. My husband put a hook on the window frame in our family room and I have it hanging there. It’s beautiful with the sunlight shining through it.
Second – a brand new with retail tags still on it…a ceramic beach themed tissue box cover. I gave it a good cleaning and removed the sticky price tags. I love using Goo Gone to remove sticky residues. I have it sitting in our guest bathroom housing a box of facial tissues.
Third…a matted and framed beach print. I’m NOT fond of the print so I’ll be removing that. I love the mat and wooden frame. I’ll be putting a different coatal beach print inside it. My plan is to hang it up in one of the guest bedrooms once it’s done.
Total cost for just those 3 items was $9.00 plus tax. What a deal!!!
Make sure you that always give everything a very good cleaning and that you clean items as soon as you bring them into your home. You don’t know where those items have previously been! Don’t bring the bags in and let them sit until you find time to get to them. If you can’t get to them right away…leave the bags sit outside on a covered porch or in the garage.
Cleaning…I like to launder everything that can be tossed into my washing machine. Things that can’t get a good wipe down with disinfecting wipes or washed in my kitchen sink with soap and water. Things that can’t be washed should be sprayed 2-3 times with a disinfecting spray and left to “air out” for a few days.
