15 years ago we purchased an older home that needed a lot of work. This home had been in my wife’s family for over 30 years. Over the decades the previous owners (her great aunt and great uncle) never did anything to modernize it. They did basic repairs and maintenance, that’s about it.

By trade, I’m a licensed HVAC technician and supervisor. I really enjoy home remodeling, so I knew I could restore the home and modernize it. Over the past 15 years I’ve gutted 80% of the home giving it new walls, windows, ceilings, flooring, appliances, lighting fixtures, etc. It’s been a labor of love.

One problem that we still have with the home is a damp basement. Back in the 1960’s they didn’t do a great job with building and waterproofing basements. After rainfall or during a very damp winter season…our basement can smell musty. There’s usually way too much humidity down there.
Aeocky contacted me about reviewing one of their premium dehumidifiers and I jumped at that chance. AEOCKY is ranked No.1 among dehumidifier brands on Amazon U.S. for the 2025 sales year based on Stackline modeled retail sales data. Right there…that tells you that they make quality products!

The Aeocky Rhea Series is an Energy Star Most Efficient Dehumidifier that can be used in any home or basement. It is designed for moisture-prone basements, laundry rooms, garages and larger home spaces, with coverage up to 5,500 sq. ft., removal of up to 80 pints per day, approximately 44 dB operation.
The unit uses an on-device intelligent humidistat and includes a hose for continuous gravity drainage. It does not have app control or a built-in pump.

I took it out of the box and read over the user’s manual that came with it. There’s nothing complicated about getting it set up. Takes just a few minutes. There’s 5 different operating modes: auto, constant, continuous, smart drying and sleep. There’s a humidity sensor that responds as the conditions in the room changes.
One of the things I’m really impressed with is that after a power outage it will auto-restart on it’s own and it keeps the original settings that you had. We live in a valley and get a lot of storms coming through our area. Power outages aren’t uncommon here! There’s an internal water tank that you can empty as needed or hook up the continuous gravity-flow hose that came with it. On average, I’m emptying our tank every 3 days and I’m always impressed with how much water it’s pulling out of the air!

There’s 3 different models in the Rhea Series so that you can select one to get the coverage that you need. Depending on the model…that’s up to 8,000 sq. ft. Everything about this dehumidifier is impressive and the company backs it up with a 3 year warranty.
In the past I’ve used 4 different dehumidifiers and NONE of them come close to the features that this particular model has. The Aeocky dehumidifier is the BEST one that I’ve ever had. It’s easy-to-operate, runs whisper quiet and it gets the job done! As an added bonus, it’s affordable!
