DIY Homemade Bubbles Blowing Solution for Kids

June 10, 2026 by Classystaff Leave a Comment

Looking to keep the kids busy this summer? If so…head to your local dollar discount store and pick up a few of their inexpensive bubble blowing wands, guns, trays, etc. You can typically purchase them for $1.25 to $3.00 each depending on which store you shop. The majority of them come with a small amount of bubbles blowing solution to get you started. However, kids will go through that pretty quickly. You can find all kinds of cool and elaborate bubble blowing toys for purchase on Amazon.

Here’s how you can make your own homemade bubbles blowing solution. You only need a few basic ingredients and a container to store it in. The container will need to hold at least 5 cups. Use a funnel or larger dropper if needed to add it to the bubble blowing device.

Homemade DIY Bubbles Blowing Solution

4 cups of very warm water (it needs to be warm enough to melt the granulated sugar)
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup mild liquid dish soap (I buy the cheap stuff at the dollar-type of store)

Mix all 3 ingredients listed above together until the granulated sugar has dissolved. Keep a lid on the container to keep it from evaporating or getting spilled. Always store the bubbles solution out of the reach of children and pets.  People can indeed have allergies to any or all of these type’s of solutions so check their skin for any type of skin irritation.

I do recommend that you talk to children before they play with a bubbles blowing toy. It doesn’t matter if it’s store-bought or homemade. Explain to them that they should never blow bubbles onto another person’s face or a pet’s face. The solution can sting the eyes. They should NEVER taste it or drink it. Young children should be supervised by an adult when playing with blowing bubbles.
