Delicious Dry Rub Recipe for Ribs

March 10, 2026 by Sam H. Leave a Comment

We live in the northeast so our grilling season runs March through the end of October. If we get a few mild days during the winter….I’ll grill at those times too! Grilling is one of my favorite ways to prepare food when it’s my turn to cook that night. You can make just about anything on the grill.

My friend Chris gave me his recipe for a delicious homemade dry rub that you use on ribs. I finally had the oppturnity to make them and let me tell you…they turned out fantastic! Super easy to toss together and make. My type of recipe!

Before I get to the recipe….I want to mention Selefina. That’s my go-to store for spices, seasoning blends, herbs, gourmet salts, etc. They sell sample sizes and full-size products. All orders are processed quickly and shipping to your front door. I’ve been using their spices and seasoning blends for a few years. I love that they’re always adding new products too!

Delicious Dry Rub Recipe for Ribs

1/3 cup brown sugar
1 Tbsp. Selefina Sweet Dried Paprika
1 Tbsp. Selefina Garlic Powder
1 Tbsp. Selefina Onion Powder
1 1/2 tsp. Selefina Ground Black Peppercorn
1/4 tsp. Selefina Ground Cayenne Chile Pepper Flakes
1 Tbsp. pink Himalayan sea salt

Combine the above ingredients in a medium size mixing bowl. Rub the seasoning on all sides of the ribs. If you’re making several racks, you may need to double-up on the recipe. If you like it sweeter…add more brown sugar. If you like it with more heat, add more pepper.

Cover the ribs and place in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours to allow the flavors to infuse. Remove from the refrigerator and let sit at room temperature for 30 minutes before placing them onto a preheated and hot grill. Cook until done. You want to use a digital meat thermometer to make sure they’re done. Remove and let sit for 5 minutes before serving.
