The past few weeks I’ve published a few Valentine’s Day designs painted seashells. Well, I’m back one more time with two more designs! All are easy-to-make! You can use them as little greeting cards, giveaways, home decor accents or for your painted kindness rocks and shells community projects. You’ll need a few clam shells, acrylic craft paint markers, white spray paint, clear Mod Podge Sealer and a few other basic supplies to make them.

For this project I used 3″ and 4″ wide clam shells that I collected from the beach. Wash them in warm soapy water. I like to let them soak for 10-15 minutes. Rinse with clean water. Lay on a towel to air dry overnight.
Take the shells outside and spray them with a light coat of white paint. This will serve as your base coat. I find that 1 coat gives me the coverage that I need. You may need to use 2 coats if your shells are discolored. Let them dry.
All of the design work was painted onto the clam shells with a pack of BETEM Acrylic Paint Markers. The markers contain acrylic paint and have dual ended tips. They don’t require priming, no drippy messes and no foul paint odors. Use the medium tip to color-in the larger areas and the fine tip to do outlining and to write wordage. I purchased them from Amazon.
You’ll sketch the desired design onto the clam shell using a pencil. You can use my photo for inspiration or come up with your own designs. Once sketched…color in the design using the paint markers. The cardboard matchstick is from a pack of matches. I just cut the match stick to fit onto the seashell. I used Gorilla Glue to adhere it. Let the shells dry for 2-3 hours allowing for the paint and glue to cure.
Finishing up – I sealed the designs by brushing on 1–2 light coats of Clear Mod Podge Sealer with a glossy finish. If you want to add any micro-fine glitter…sprinkle it on while the Mod Podge is still wet. Let all shells dry overnight.
