Valentine’s Day is less than 2 weeks away. Don’t wait until the last minute to purchase your Valentine’s Day candy. I find that if you wait until the last minute everything is really picked over. Sure, you may get a good discount on it…but is it what you really wanted? Is it the better candy or no frills? Is it fresh or old? Waiting until the last minute has its disadvantages.

I started seeing Valentine’s Day candy and gifts hitting the store shelves a week after Christmas. Every year it hits the shelves earlier and earlier. I never buy it that early or I may just eat it myself. Instead, I like to buy Valentine’s Day candy and gifts the last week in January before things are picked over and when retailers are starting to put it on sale. If you shop around, you can find some nice deals on those type’s of gifts.

My husband LOVES the Whitman’s Dark Chocolate Candy Sampler Box and requests one every year. Since he’s item specific, I need to shop for it in January. It’s one of his favorite treats and looks forward to it yearly. He’s also a big fan of dark chocolate espresso coffee beans, so I pick up a bag or two of those too! We don’t go overboard with the holiday chocolates. Just a few little things.
In my honest opinion, mid January to late January is the best time to shop for Valentine’s Day candy and gifts. It’s when the stores have the best selection available and some are starting to put them on sale. When purchasing and if you can…always take a look for the best by date or expiration date as you don’t want to be purchasing last year’s leftovers. Trust me, some retailers will toss old stock in with the new!
