How to Make a Dry Rub Steak Seasoning

January 15, 2026 by Classystaff

How to Make a Dry Rub Steak SeasoningWe enjoy making steaks at least once every 2 weeks. We will often toss them onto our barbecue grill when the weather is nice. During the cold winter months we will pan-fry them on the stove-top or toss them into the oven. When it comes to seasoning them…we make our own dry rub steak seasoning and keep that on hand. That’s right, you can make your own which allows you to adjust the ingredients to suit your own taste buds.

When using this basic recipe you can adjust it to suit your own needs. You can easily double-up and triple-up the recipe, so that you can store some for later use. Just store it in an airtight container or zipper-closure bag (please label it).

Looking for some of the best spices and spice blends in the retail marketplace? Check out Selefina. They’re our go-to source for spices, spice blends, gourmet salts, herbs, rubs and baking items. We’ve been using Selefina products for several years and love them. Check out Selefina while you’re here.

How to Make a Dry Rub Steak Seasoning

3 tbsp. Himalayan pink sea salt
3 tbsp. Selefina ground paprika
2 tbsp. Selefina onion powder
2 tbsp. Selefina garlic powder
1 1/2 tbsp. Selefina dried oregano
1 tsp. Selefina Italian Seasoning Classic Blend
1 1/2 tbsp. Selefina ground black or white pepper
1 tbsp. brown sugar
1 tbsp. Selefina ground cumin

Mix all of the above ingredients together in a small bowl until combined. Store in an airtight container or zipper closure bag until ready-to-use.

To Use: Season both sides of the steak with the rub. Let it rest at room temperatue for 10-15 minutes before cooking to allow some of that rub flavor to infuse. You can use as little or as much rub as you like!
