The new year means new organizing opportunities in my home. I’m on a mission to downsize and get things organized in every room in our home. Throughout the year I’ll be sharing with you some of the products that I’m using and tips that I learn along the way. First up…I needed some clear zippered storage bags to organize and store away some seasonal clothing, quilts, blankets, linens and other items.

I purchased the Budding Joy Clear Zippered Storage Bags with carrying handles from Amazon. You get 6 heavy-duty plastic bags in the package. They have dual zippers…so that you can easily get your items in and out of the bags. I love that they’re clear so I can easily see the items that are inside them. Unlike plastic storage totes…I can carry them around with ease. As an older woman in her late 50’s that’s disabled…I need lightweight and portable items.
By using these storage bags I can easily store items away underneath beds, in closets, the basement, attic and other places. They don’t take up a lot of space like plastic storage totes. I can stack them and squeeze them into all sorts of different places. They’re durable and a really nice size. You can cram a lot of items in them. Think about all of those clothing, linens and seasonal items that you need to organize and stow away.
When you’re not using the storage bags they collapse down flat and can be stored in a drawer or up on a shelf. Since they’re plastic storage bags…you do need to keep them out of the reach of children and pets.
I cleaned out 2 linens closets and 1 small hallway closet. I’m using my first 6-pack of storage bags to organize and store bed linens that we don’t use all of the time, extra blankets and quilts, beach and pool towels, some vintage linens that I have, etc. I did opt to label the bags with contents but really…not necessary since you can easily see the items inside. I love the 2 carrying handles which makes it easy for me to carry them from point A to point B in our house.

Downsizing Tip – When downsizing only keep what you absolutely need. Don’t hold onto things just because you like them. If you aren’t going to use them, wear them, whatever….time to downsize them! If they’ve been collecting dust for at least a year…time for them to go! Getting rid of items? Consider donating them to a charity instead of tossing in a landfill.
