We had friends from the mid-west visit us several weeks ago. One place they wanted to visit was Gettysburg, so we took a ride down there to visit the Battlefields, the National Gettysburg Military Museum and Soldiers National Cemetery in Gettysburg. After a long day we enjoyed dinner from a local restaurant. It was a great day learning more about the Civil War and the historic battle at Gettysburg.
At the Gettysburg National Military Museum they have a very cool attraction called the Battle of Gettysburg Cyclorama. It’s a lights and sound show of the battle that took place there. It’s a large painting that is circular and covers the walls of the room. The lights dim…then you get a narrator telling you about the various battles, locations and some of the soldiers & people involved. It really grabs your attention.

I’m not sure of the exact length…but from start to finish I would say 15-20 minutes. It’s not very long…but extremely educational. It really puts the battle into more perspective when you can hear gun shots, moans from the wounded, soldiers yelling, generals giving orders and so forth. Well-worth the additional admission price that we paid once we were in the museum. I highly recommend it when visiting the Gettysburg National Military Museum.
Today I’m sharing two photographs that I took during the show at the Cyclorama.
