Homemade BBQ Sauce Recipe for Ribs

November 25, 2025 by Sam H.

Every month we enjoy cooking a rack of ribs for dinner. It’s one of our favorite meals to enjoy. When we make ribs we use a homemade bbq sauce that we personally make. You’ll need some basic ingredients along with your blender. Once you have the sauce made…marinate the ribs in the sauce for at least 2 hours before tossing them onto your preheated grill or before placing them into the oven.

Before I get to the recipe I would like to introduce you to Selefina…my favorite place to purchase spices. They have your classics and special blends at affordable prices! You can buy various sizes (amounts) and have them shipped directly to your front door. We’ve been using spices from Selefina for the past few years and they’re our go-to source! You’ll find spices, seasonings, rubs, gourmet salts, seasonings and so much more!

Homemade BBQ Sauce Recipe for Ribs

1 1.2 cups brown sugar
1 1.2 cups catsup
1/2 cup red wine vinegar
1/2 cup water
1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
2 1/2 Tbsp. dry mustard powder
2 tsp. Selefina Sweet Paprika
1/2 tsp. Selefina Garlic Powder
2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. Selefina Ground Black Peppercorn
1/4 to 1/2 tsp. hot sauce

Place all of the above ingredients into a blender container. Blend until the ingredients are combined and of a sauce consistency. Use this barbecue sauce to marinate the ribs or brush it onto the ribs during the cooking/grilling process.

Tip: Always use a digital meat thermometer to make sure your meat is properly cooked to the right internal temperature. The outside may look done but the inside isn’t.
