Hand Painted Black Cat, Spider and Bats Halloween Seashell Decorations

October 11, 2025 by Classystaff

Halloween is just around the corner. It’s time to get those arts and craft projects rolling. Last weekend I hand painted these three seashells. Each design was done on small clam seashells. You could use other vatieties of shells too. You don’t have to be a professional artist to make them. All designs are easy with no template or pattern required.

Small Clam Shells
Acrylic Craft Paints
Paint Brush
Water Dish and Paper Towels
Pack of Acrylic Paint Markers
Mod Podge Clear Sealer, Glossy Finish
Foam Paint Brush
Pencil with Eraser

Base coat all of the seashells with your desired color. I used light purple, dark purple and orange (refer to the photograph). Let dry until the paint is no longer tacky.

For the rest of the painted design work I used a pack of BETEM Acrylic Paint Markers that I purchased from Amazon. These paint markers have dual ended tips (one medium and one fine), require no priming, no leaky or drippy messes, no clogged tips and no foul paint odors. They’re affordable and dry fast.

Take a pencil and lightly draw your desired design onto the shell. It doesn’t have to be elaborate or perfect. I’m NO professional artist!!! Use my photograph to guide you or come up with your own designs. Let all of the paint dry for 2 hours…which gives it curing time too!

Using the foam brush…brush on a light coat of clear Mod Podge Sealer with a glossy finish. It goes on white but dries crystal clear. Let dry for 2-3 hours or until it’s no longer sticky. That’s it, you’re done!
