I’ve been crafting all of my life. I remember the first little arts & craft project that I made as a Brownie Girl Scout 51 years ago. We made paper snowflakes and covered them with glitter. Over the decades I’ve made thousands of different projects. I’ve shared hundreds of them on the TCC blog. Check out this LINK for 300+ arts and craft projects! Lately I’ve been getting a lot of questions asking me about the best acrylic paint markers to use in crafts and what brands do I recommend to others. Well, that depends on the type of craft project that you’re making and what are YOU willing to spend.

Here are my personal preferences:
For outlining, writing wordage and for fancy arts and crafts projects I turn to Tooli-Art Acrylic Paint Markers. I like that you can buy them in a variety of different colors, different sized paint dispensing tips, etc. They do require priming, can get clogged up tips and can leak. With that said, the colors are vibrant and I like the precision control I can get when lettering and outlining. They’re more on the expensive side when it comes to pricing. I own and use 2 different packs of Tooli-Art Paint Markers…one is a multi-color set and one is a white & black set….I use a LOT Of white and black, so I purchased just a small set of those 2 colors.
My go-to for general arts and crafts projects are BETEM Acrylic Paint Markers with dual-ended tips. They come in a variety of different colors. They don’t require priming. no clogged tips, no leaky messes and no foul paint odors. I use the BETEM Paint Markers for the majority of my kindness rocks and seashells painting projects. They’re affordable…you can typically get a pack for less than $12 on Amazon. Great for most of your different projects and an exceptional buy for those crafting on a budget.
If you’re looking for VERY INEXPENSIVE….I would recommend the Kevin and Sasa Crafts Acrylic Paint Markers. They come 24 colors to a pack and feature dual-ended tips. They don’t require priming, don’t clog up easily and don’t have any foul paint odors. This pack is great for beginners and for kids due to their affordability. Are they the best quality that I’ve used? No…but they’re affordable. These are great for when I’m doing arts and crafts with my grandchildren.

All 3 of the acrylic paint marker brands that I recommended above I personally use. I’ve listed what I like about each brand. I’ve used at least a dozen other brands over the past 5 years….but I thought I would recommend my top 3 and why I recommend them to you. If you’re into painting rocks for kindness rocks or kindness seashells as an adult….BETEM and Tooli-Art are the two that you need. If you’re letting kids paint…then I would hand them a pack of the Keven & Sasa Paint Markers. All of those listed above can be used on a wide variety of surfaces: fabric, wood, glass, ceramic, rocks, seashells, tiles, etc.
