I’ve been using flameless candles in our home for the past 15 years. When flameless candles first came onto the home decor scene…they weren’t very good. They didn’t look realistic, had no timers and you went through a pack of batteries every week. Fast forward 15 years and technology has come a long way!

Last month I tried a brand new (to me) brand called Sterno Home that I had purchased from Hobby Lobby. Regularly priced at $19 they were currently on clearance for $9.49 each. I purchased an unscented 5″ tall pillar candle. It’s made with real wax and has a LED flickering flame. What’s really cool about this flameless candle is the technology inside it.

It has a totally programmable timer! The timer can be set for 5 or 10 hours of run-time…or you can come up with the exact amount of run-time that you specifically want by following the instructions that come with each candle. I purchased two of them…so I have one set up with a 3 hour run-time and one with a 6 hour run-time.
They have patented programmable timers inside each one…so set the timer from 1 to 23 hours or have it run constantly at 24 hours….entirely up to you. I personally like setting a timer and just forgetting about it until it’s time to change the batteries. I enjoy having them turn on and off throughout the evening and I can use them in any room in our home.
Each pillar candle requires 2 C-style batteries. If you use great quality batteries you should get at least 400 hours of battery run-time. Inserting the batteries was easy with no tools required. The on/off button and programmable timer buttons are on the bottom of the pillar candle. Just follow the instructions on the package to set the timer. VERY EASY TO DO!
The life-like flickering flame at the top of the wax candle is fantastic! When you have the candle on it certainly looks like a lit candle! It flickers in a random pattern too! I love to see the “light” dancing off the walls and ceiling. The perfect amount of light…not too dim nor too bright. Just perfect!!!
I purchased them from Hobby Lobby but I read online that Sterno Home LED Pillar Candles are available from other retailers across the nation too.
