Last month we took a road trip out to southwestern Pennsylvania using the Pennsylvania Turnpike. While driving the turnpike we had to go through three mountain tunnels. I don’t mind driving and/or going through them but they creep my wife out. She thinks it’s weird driving through a mountain. I always remind her that driving through it…saves motorists HOURS of driving time compared to driving around the mountain or going up over it.
Our grandchildren get a big kick out of us going through the mountain. They play a game where they lift their feet up off the floorboard of the car and hold them up until we come out the other side of the tunnel. Whoever completes the task…wins! Silly games that the kids play.
Have you ever gone through one of the mountain tunnels? If so, how do you feel about it? Are you fine or do they creep you out? I would love to see even more of them because they do save you time…a lot of time when traveling. These days we’re all looking to get from point A to point B quicker. Your thoughts on driving through the mountain tunnels?
