The living room remodel is officially completed. Over the past 2 years my husband gutted it down to the flooring and studs! He put in a new ceiling with recessed lighting, a new hardwood floor, hung up new drywall, installed new windows and did all of the painting and trim himself. While it took 2 long years…it looks absolutely beautiful.

Now the fun part…decorating it! I needed to purchase new curtain rods and window treatments. I had been looking for several weeks for the “right” color and style for our coastal and beach style home. I wanted curtains that were semi-sheer to allow some light in…but not overly-sheer where people could easily seen in our windows.
I didn’t want any window treatments in funky colors, floral patterns, with swirls, and all of that nonsense. I wanted something that looked modern, clearn, relaxed and semi-sheer in their weight. Well, I finally found them.
We shopped them from the At Home store in our local area. They’re a gray and off-white color with a striped pattern. They’re not “in your face” with the pattern. They’re the perfect weight and semi-sheer just like I wanted. Each panel cost me $14.99, so I had to purchase 2 panels per window. We have 2 single windows and 1 double window in our living room. In total I purchased 8 panels for the 3 windows.
For the curtain rods…I went with a wood curtain rod painted white. They’re sleek with knobbed ends. Very easy to install and perfect for the tab top curtains that I had purchased. I think they go perfectly together. I like simple, modern, clean and relaxed styles. Nothing fancy, bright or over-bearing in color.
Yesterday my husband got the first set hung up. Took him about 5 minutes to get the curtain rod up and then we easily slid the tab-top window panels onto the rod. Beautiful They look really nice against our light gray colored walls.
We’re still working on the finishing touches to the new living room. As soon as I have all of the window treatments up, the new area rug in and the new throw pillows on our new sectional…I get new photographs to share. I’m really pleased with the look of our new coastal cottage style living room.
