Visiting Local Neighborhood Parks

June 25, 2025 by Classystaff

Elm Street Park - Penbrook in Harrisburgow many of you take the time to visit neighborhood parks in your own community? We enjoy visiting them and do so on a regular basis. With that said, we’re picky. We won’t visit any of the parks that aren’t well-maintained. They have to be kept clean and be safe to visit.

We enjoy going to just walk around the park to get some fresh air and exercise. Sometimes we just go to sit and people watch for a bit. Other times we will have our grandchildren with us and they like to play on the playground equipment. We try to get them outside for physical exercise and fresh air whenever we can. Kids spend too much time sitting on their butts…inside the house!!!

One thing that I’ve noticed over the past 5-6 years is that more and more community parks are being put in. I think that is fantastic! Every community should have at least one. We’re fortunate that we live in a suburbs and have at least a dozen local parks to choose from. You can usually find them listed on your municipalities website.

Another thing that I wanted to mention is volunteering. A lot of community and neighborhood parks are looking for volunteers. That could be picking up trash, cleaning up pet waste, helping kids during a summer camp, planting trees and flowers, clearing walking paths…all sorts of different things. If you want to get involved in your area…call up the folks at the administration office to inquire about park volunteering opportunities. We can all get involved to make our communities better!
