Things You Can Do to Help Local Animal Rescue Groups

Things You Can Do to Help Local Animal Rescue GroupsAnimals all across our nation need your help! The need has never been greater. You can help animal rescue groups in various different ways. Please…do what you can to help the rescue groups located in your own community. We can all make a difference!

Here’s a partial list of things you can do to help.

Time – If you have a little bit of extra time volunteer with the group. This time could be just socializing with the animals in their care. It could be cleaning cages, helping out at a fundraiser event, answering the phones, helping with email, etc. See what’s needed and jump in!

Supplies – Rescue groups are in need of supplies 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Donate food, crates, cages, pet beds, cat litter, toys, pet treats, etc. Call them up and see what they need. Make a donation of supplies on a regular basis. Even 1 bag of dog food or 3 bags of cat litter can make a difference!

Money – Can you spare a few extra dollars a week? A month? A year? If so, donate money! This money helps to cover vet costs, medications, housing costs, etc. A donation of $25 a month adds up and can go a long way!

Fundraising Support – Every time you see a local group hosting a fundraising event…try to participate! If it’s ordering XYZ product or using XYZ service…consider participating. Fundraisers are exactly that…a way for the group to raise much needed money for their organization.

Fostering – The majority of groups have a foster parent program. That’s where you foster an animal for a little while until it’s ready for the adoption process. Fostering can be a lot of hard work but it’s also very rewarding! Some groups will provide supplies to the foster parent for the animal’s care. You can foster as little or as much as you would like. It’s a great way to get involved without tying yourself down to permanent parenthood.

Adopting – Please don’t shop for a new pet! There are millions of dogs, cats, birds, hamsters, rabbits, etc. that need new homes! You add to the problem by buying pets! Please consider adopting and be a part of the solution!!!

All 4 of our cats were rescue animals that we adopted through a local cat rescue group. Our boy Romeo was adopted by us when he was 3 months old. He’s the best well-natured and loving kitty in the entire world. The group did an excellent job at socializing him and training him for adoption. It was a great exeperience for our family.

Our family volunteers with a local animal group in a variety of different ways. If you can help any of the groups in your own community…please do so! They all need our help!!!
