Gardening: Growing Strawberries in Your Backyard
Three years ago we made the decision to grow strawberries in our backyard. We dug up an area towards the back of the yard that gets full sun and planted the strawberry plants. Well, that first attempt was a total failure due to the poor content of our soil. With that said, we didn’t give up!

The following spring I invested in two platform gardening beds and filled them with nutrient-rich soil. I then ordered two packs of strawberry plants from Amazon. Once they arrived I followed the package instructions and got them planted into the gardening beds. Planting the strawberry plants is a very easy process!
May and June are the two strawberry in-season months in our area. The following year we had our first crop of fresh strawberries! We were excited and they were delicious! We planted everbearing berries so we get a good crop early in the season and then a smaller crop later in the growing season (early September).
Fast forward this year. Our strawberry plants have spread, look even more healthier and have been producing fresh berries for us the past 2 weeks with more berries coming! It is so nice to grow your own food in your backyard! In my personal experience, I’ve been getting healthier plants from Amazon than I typically get at my local gardening store.
