These hand-painted daisy floral design clam shells seashells are very easy to make! You don’t need a template or pattern to make them. You can easily do this design on clam shells, other seashells, smooth river rocks and painted onto other surfaces. You’ll only need a few basic art supplies to make them.

We collected 2 large clam seashells from the beach. Washed them in warm soapy water using Dawn Liquid Dish Soap. Dawn is fantastic for removing sand, debris and fishy odors. Rinse with clean water and lay them out to air dry overnight.
Using a paint brush and light blue acrylic craft paint…we base coated each shell with 2 coats of paint. By base coating the paint colors that you’ll apply on top will be more vibrant. Let dry until the paint is no longer tacky.
Use a pencil and sketch the design onto the shell. I started by sketching the daisy and then the little heart-shaped tulips on each side.
To keep the paint super-simple I used a pack of BETEM Acrylic Paint Markers. They feature dual tips (a medium tip and a fine tip). They don’t require any priming, don’t clog, leak or have a foul paint odor. They’re affordable and you can purchase them from Amazon.
Color in the larger areas first on your flowers. Then use the black fine-tip to outline the flowers and add the stems. I thought the background still looked too plain so I add triplet mini-dots using the black fine-tip paint marker in a random pattern around the shell. Let all of the paint dry until it’s no longer tacky.
You need to seal the painted artwork by brushing on 1-2 light coats of clear Mod Podge Sealer with a glossy finish. It goes on white but will dry crystal clear. It will protect the painted design and will allow you to display your painted seashells inside or outside of the home. Let the sealer dry and cure for at least 2 days before displaying them outside.
