Shopping for Affordable Craft Supplies at Second-Hand Stores
Let’s face it…the cost of everything has gone up and that includes arts and craft supplies. Over the past 4 years or so, I’ve seen some of my favorite products double in price. Inflation and supply-chain issues have caused most of it, but not all of it. For awhile, I thought I would have to give up my love for making crafts until I found another way to get supplies at a more affordable price.

Four months ago I started shopping at second-hand stores, flea markets, yard sales and antique stores for arts and craft supplies. You would be amazed at what you can find in those type’s of places! Now…it will take you longer to find things as it is hit or miss on what you find…but you can really save yourself a lot of money when you come upon a HIT!
Here are some of my latest finds:
* Box with 12 large baking scallop shells for $1.00
* Box with 35 medium and large sand dollars for $3.50
* Box with 5 full skeins of yarn and 9 partial skeins of yarn for $2.00
* Box full of 1/4 yard, 1/2 yard and 3/4 yard fabrics for $3.00
* 3 brand new packs of 12 paint brushes for .50 cents a pack
* Quart size jar full of buttons for $3.00
* Box of misc. sewing supplies (tape measures, pins, bobbins, threads, buttons, seam ripper, etc) for $4.00
* Wood antique walnut wood sewing box for $5.00 with supplies inside.

The point is…check out those second-hand stores, flea markets, yard sales and antique stores near you to see what you can find. Like I said, it can be hit or miss…but you can save a lot of money when you get a great FIND!
