Easy Cream Cheese Frosting Recipe for Cupcakes

I make at least one batch of homemade cupcakes every month. My kids are involved in all kinds of activities like sports, youth group at church, girl and boy scouts, the community center, etc. All of these groups host meetings, get-togethers and bake sales. On top of that, my kids enjoy eating them as an after-school snack.

Easy Cream Cheese Frosting Recipe

8 oz. block cream cheese
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 1/2 tsp. pure vanilla extract
4 cups confectioner’s sugar (powdered sugar)

In a medium sized bowl beat together the cream cheese, softened butter and the pure vanilla extract until creamy. Gradually add in the confectioner’s sugar, beating after each addition. Beat until light and creamy. Spread onto cupcakes using a knife or placed into a piping bag. Frost the cooled cupcakes immediately.

Tips: I recommend using real butter, not margarine! I also recommend that you use pure vanilla extract, not immitation vanilla. Using the correct ingredients gives you a better flavor and creamier texture.
