Valentine’s Day Sweetheart Bird Painted Clam Shell Seashell Designs
These hand painted love bird seashells would be perfect for you to give to your sweetheart for Valentine’s Day. They’re easy-to-make and require no template or pattern. They can be made by older children and adults. Perfect project for Seniors too! Don’t have access to seashells? Don’t worry, you can paint the design onto smooth river rocks or small wood slices.

Base coat each clam shell with 2 coats of light blue acrylic craft paint allowing for 30 minutes of drying time between coats. Use a pencil to lightly sketch an oval shape onto the shell. That is the basis to make the bird. Use the photograph for reference to sketch and paint the design. You can do a simple design (like me) or get fancy if you have the artistic talent. Let all of the paint dry for 2-3 hours.
Note: I use BETEM Acrylic Paint Markers to make these designs. They’re fabulous markers containing acrylic paint. They feature dual tips (a medium and a fine tip), no priming needed, no drippy messes and no foul paint odors. Plus, they dry fairly fast!!! You can purchase them from Amazon.
Once the paint is dry you need to seal the design with Clear Mod Podge Sealer. I used the one that gives a glossy finish. It will take 30-45 minutes to dry. It will dry crystal clear. Once it has dried you can flip the seashell over and write a more personal message on the back using a black Sharpie Marker.
