Stingrays, Horseshoe Crabs and Jellyfish on the Beach

On one such walk my wife and I saw several horseshoe crabs, a stingray and countless jellyfish that were lying up on the beach. The majority of them were deceased. The ones that were still alive we took the time to put them back out into the ocean water.

When walking the beach it’s important to watch where you’re walking! There could be shards of glass, fish hooks, sharp rocks or other things buried in the sand that you typically don’t see. Trust me, you’ll feel them if you step onto them! We walk with a small trash bag to pick up any trash that we find along the way. We all need to do our part and clean-up our coastlines whenever we can.

Wildlife is another matter. We’re big into conservation so we’re always on the lookout for wildlife that may need some help. If an animal is alive and truly struggling you need to be careful handling it. If you’re not sure what to do, it’s better to summon some help. If you have experience in handling them…please take the time to help them. Horseshoe crabs often get stuck on the beach when the tide is rolling out. If they’re still alive, we gently pick them up and return them to the water.

Today I just wanted to show you the stingray, horseshoe crabs and jellyfish that we seen on one particular walk. This was a 90 minute beach walk and we saw several of them along the way. Every walk we take…it truly a gift and one that we always appreciate.
