The Race of Gentlemen TROG

January 29, 2025 by Sam H.

The Race of Gentlemen TROGDo you enjoy racing and motorsports? Have a passion for antique and vintage cars, trucks and motorcycles? If so, you need to go to The Race of Gentlemen better known as TROG by the fans in Wildwood, New Jersey. You can find it being held the first weekend in October every year. It’s a lot of fun to attend!

October 2024 was the 4th time that I’ve attended TROG and every year it gets bigger and better. It’s held right on the beach in Wildwood and attracts thousands of fans every year. This event is NOT free. You do need to buy an admission ticket to attend which can be purchased online or at the gate. If you don’t live in or near Wildwood, you can find motels & hotels on the island that offer overnight specials on their room rates just for Trog attendees.

The main highlight of the event is to watch the antique cars race down the beach…drag racing style. You’ll see old cars, trucks, motorcycles, and more. There are bleachers you can sit in (they fill up fast) or bring along your own chairs. The event gets really crowded, so try to get there early in the day.

You can buy food, snacks and beverages while you’re there along with souvenirs from the event. Every year I like to get myself a new TROG t-shirt. Like any event of this nature…prices can be high. Just plan ahead for that. Due to crowds and noise, I wouldn’t bring a baby or toddler along with me…although I do see a few there from time to time. My teenage grandchild enjoys the races…whereas my younger grandchild gets bored.

If you’re interested in knowing more about The Race of Gentlemen you can look them up online. It’s one of my favorite events that are held in Wildwood. Highly recommend it…I always enjot it.
