Let’s talk cellphones and kids. How old do you think a child should be before they get their first cellphone? Should it be a smartphone or just one that can make calls? Do you think kids spends too much time on their phones? Do you set rules for phone use for your child? If so, what? My 15 1/2 year old got her first phone at age 12 with limited use. She couldn’t surf the web until we upgraded her phone at age 14. Even now, she gets limited use on what she can see and do on that phone. Yes, I frequently take a peek at who she’s talking with as I pay the bill and I’m the MOM! My 9 year old just got his first phone a few months ago. He can only receive and make calls to 6 people on a designated list and can make emergency calls for help. It has no internet access.
