Have you ever visited a big port where ships and barges bring goods in and take goods out? You know…where America gets our supplies and goods from. A lot of people think the immediate coastline (Atlantic, Gulf and Pacific) but our larger rivers also have big ports that move goods around. Shipping is a big business and it’s one of the ways we enjoy millions of different things across America.
We were on a road trip 2 months ago and drove across the Delaware River, right outside of Philadelphia. I’m not a fan of driving across big bridges but to get from point A to point B…it’s necessary. Anyway, you could see a lot of the big barges and boats coming in and going out. The photo was taken right after the dock and port workers suspended their so-called STRIKE. When I looked out into the distance I could see other barges waiting to come in.
Both sides of the Delaware River in Chester (right outside of Philly) had oodles of different docks and warehouses. I can’t even imagine how they go about sceduling and keeping things moving in an orderly fashion with all of that. Definitely a lot of hard work!
