Several months ago we took a road trip through western Pennsylvania and western New York. We decided to visit severl small towns along the way by getting off of the highway and doing some exploring. One town that we drove through was Brockton, Pennsylvnaia.
We’re big fans of local Pennsylvanian art. While driving on a small back road we stumbled across this fantastic wood carving by T & D Carvings out of Brockton, Pennsylvania. It’s TALL!!! It features that famous navy sailor giving a nurse a kiss on Time Squares in New York. It honors V-J Day. You can do some online web searches to learn more about the V-J Day Kiss.
After stumbling upon it…we had to stop and grab a quick photograph of it. It’s larger than what it appears in my photograph. It’s stunning…a beautiful piece of road art that we had the opportunity to see! Now…that’s some serious talent to carve that from wood and then paint it. Very realistic looking and they did an excellent job!
