I first want to let you know about my specific hair type. I have long, thick and dry hair. It’s natural, no chemical treatments at all. At times I experience a lot of brittle ends, dryness and frizziness. During the summertime my hair gets even drier from all of the swimming that I do. At the age of 56, I’m looking for easy-to-use products that do what they say that they’ll do. That’s exactly why I use Milk_Shake hair products.
A few weeks ago I started using the Milk_Shake Moisture Plus Hair Shampoo and Conditioner. They’re made with organic Papaya extract and hyaluronic acid for age protection. They’re paraben free. Using these products improves softness and manageability, while maintaining the optimal moisture balanace.
To Use: Lather the shampoo into damp hair. Leave it in for 2-3 minutes and rinse out. Apply conditioner to freshly cleansed, damp hair. Leave it in for 2-3 minutes and rinse out.
The first thing I want to mention is the fragrance. It’s very light, fresh and clean. They don’t smell like chemicals or perfume. Next, you get a really good lather with the shampoo but not overly-so. It feels really nice when you’re massaging it into your hair. I leave it in the 2-3 minutes and then rinse. I like to “squeeze my hair out gently” to remove excess water (I have long, thick hair) and then apply the conditioner. It smells equally as nice as the shampoo. Leave it in 2-3 minutes and then rinse it out.
After I get out of the shower I like to leave my hair wrapped up in a towel for 10-15 minutes to help absorb excess water. I then brush it out (yes, I use a brush). I find that I can easily brush my hair out…that conditioner is fantastic for removing tangles! Depending on my day…I may air dry or heat dry. I’m not a big user of using heat tools on my hair. So, if I can avoid them, I do.
Over the past few weeks the dryness to my hair has improved by at least 80%. I like that these products don’t make my hair look oily or greasy. A lot of products do that when they’re treating dry hair…not these!!! My hair feels so much softer to the touch and it’s definitely much more manageable. Another thing I noticed is that I’m losing less hair down the drain. I think with dry and brittle hair…your hair breaks-off and you shed more. I’m now keeping more hair on my head! Yay!
In addition to the shampoo and conditioner I had the opportunity to try out the Milk_Shake Whipped Cream Leave-In Foam which is a no rinse conditioning & protective creamy foam for all hair types. I really like applying that once a week or on days that I feel my hair needs some extra-moisturizing help (like after swimming). You shake the can and the foam comes out into your hand. You only need a little bit. Then massage it through the hair. No rinsing!!! Gotta love that!
