How to Deal with Boredom in a Hospital Waiting Room

How to Deal with Boredom in a Hospital Waiting RoomHave you ever sat in a hospital waiting room bored to tears? I know I have! Unfortunately, I’ve been there 4 times in the past several months. You sit there and sit there…for hours on end! Sure…the waiting rooms have a TV on (set on a channel they choose) and some magazines for visitors to read. Just sitting there doing nothing is boring and can cause additional stress.

If you know ahead of time that you’re going to be sitting in the waiting room I suggest you pack a bag with a few things to help keep you comfortable and entertained. Here are some ideas to takealong:

* Shelf-Stable Snacks
* Pack of Mints or Hard Candy
* 2 Bottles of Water
* Book
* Magazine
* Crossword Puzzle Books or Word Search Books with Pen
* Box of Travel-Sized Facial Tissues
* Small Note Pad with Pen
* Tablet or Small Laptop
* Power Bank (to recharge a cellphone or tablet if needed)
* Hobby Item (If you knit, crochet, do needlework, draw (sketch) or anything like that…bring it with you.
* Sweater or Light-Weight Jacket (always cold in waiting rooms)
* Hand-Held Video Game
* Download a Game or Two onto Your Cellphone
* Change Purse with Coins (for vending machines)
* Prescription Medication You May Need

If you’re going to have a child or children along with you I suggest you pack a tote bag for each child. Let them help you pack it with things that they would like to keep them busy.
