Use Eco-Friendly Shopping Totes and Baskets at the Farmer’s Market

August 5, 2024 by Classystaff

Take Reusable Shopping Totes and Baskets to the Farmer's MarketWe have 7 local farmer’s markets that we like to visit on a regular basis, especially during the summertime. They’re the best places to buy fresh produce from local farmers. You can often find great deals on that fresh produce if you’re willing to shop around. Don’t be afraid to ask for discounts if you’re buying in bulk (for canning or freezing) or ask them if they have any second-quality items available for sale.

When visiting the farmer’s market you need to get into the habit of taking your own reusable shopping totes, bags and baskets along with you. No one in this day and age should be relying on them to provide you with plastic bags which are terrible for our planet. Do your part by bringing along reusable shopping bags and totes.

Over the past few years I’ve gotten into the habit of using reusable shopping totes everywhere I go. That includes: grocery store, big box stores, department stores, the pet store, farmer’s markets, etc. I personally like the ones with flat bottoms, that way the items stand upright when I sit the bag down in the back of my car or on the kitchen counter. Something you should keep in mind when picking out a design and style that you like.

Few additional things to keep in mind: Make sure it will be easy for you to carry once it has been loaded up. I like double handles and straight sides on the totes that I use. Make sure it’s machine washable, that way you can keep it clean and germ-free. Look for bags that can carry a decent amount of weight. Often times you can find that information on the tag. You don’t need the most expensive bags out on the market…find something in the middle of the road.
