Fruit smoothies are so easy-to-make and healthy for us to drink! For the past few months I’ve been trying to drink at least 1 fruit smoothie every day. I typically enjoy it as a healthy afternoon snack to hold me over until dinner time. You can use all kinds of different fruits to make them. To keep them affordable, I use in-season fruits from our backyard garden or the local farmer’s market.

If you like your fruit smoothies more on the sweet side…add-in 1 teaspoon of honey. If you want to turn this into a milkshake…substitute vanilla ice cream for the vanilla yogurt. Make sure you use pure vanilla extract and not immitation vanilla for the best flavor! I use the Joie Strawberry Huller to make hulling strawberries a quick and easy task.
Strawberry Fruit Smoothie Recipe
8 fresh strawberries, hulled
1/2 cup cold milk
1/2 cup vanilla yogurt
1 tbsp. granulated sugar
1/2 tsp. pure vanilla extract
6 ice cubes, crushed
Optional: Garnish the rim of the glass with halved fresh strawberries.
Crush 6 ice cubes in the blender. Temporarily pour the crush ice into a glass.
Add 6 hulled strawberries, milk, vanilla yogurt, granulated sugar and pure vanilla extract into the blender. Blend until smooth. Pour the crushed ice into the blender and blend until creamy. Pour into a chilled glass. Serve immediately.
