Last month we took a 20 minute drive into Palmyra to visit the Farmstead Farmers Market. This is a great market to visit if you want to shop and buy local in central Pennsylvania. It’s about a 20 minute drive from Harrisburg and Hershey. They’re only open on Fridays and Saturdays, year-round.
The market has 2 large buildings, so you’re shopping inside which is really nice. It’s not an open-air market. You can shop for peanut butter, nut butters, pantry staples, handmade soaps & lotions, gourmet coffee, fresh produce, wine, meats, cheeses, deli meats, a bakery, poultry and so much more!
One of the buildings has an indoor food court where you can grab a bite to eat. Fish, seafood, barbecue ribs, chicken wings, sandwiches & subs, egg rolls, soft pretzels and other items. My wife enjoy getting lunch there…especially the bbq ribs and chicken wings. They’re delicious! Food can be eaten there or get it to go.
If you’re into wine tastings and visiting wineries you’ll find one there that is locally owned & operated. You can taste 3 different wines for $10.00. They have a little wine tasting booth set-up where you can sit down and try them. You need to show ID that you’re age 21 years of age or older.
My wife enjoys home canning fruits, vegetables, salsas, sauces, soups, stews, etc. so she likes to buy a lot of fresh produce from Massers Produce while we’re there. They have a great selection at affordable prices. Often times, cheaper than the local grocery store! The quality of their produce is exceptional.
Visiting central Pennsylvania or live in the area? We highly recommend that you pay Farmstead Farmers Market in Palmyra a visit.
