Sunset Lake Park is located on the bayside in Wildwood Crest, New Jersey. It’s the BEST place to go if you want to see a gorgeous sunset…hence the name Sunset Lake. There’s free parking once you get there but not a lot of parking spots. If the lot is full, you’ll need to park along one of the side streets.
The park runs along the bayfront. There’s a paved sidewalk to walk on, so it’s handicap accessible. There’s a covered Gazebo that you can sit in to enjoy the beauty around you. There are several park benches up and down the sidewalk too. There are a few memorial markers there in memory of those who passed that were from the area. They’re worth the read.
Park also has an alternative name called Turtle Gut. It played an important part in I believe the Revolutionary War. I can’t exactly remember but there’s an information board there giving you all of the historical information. Great for those who are history buffs.
There’s a water fountain (runs during the in-season) where you can fill up your water bottles and there’s a lower water fountain for dogs. Yes, dogs are welcomed as long as they’re leashed and friendly.
It’s a beautiful little park and certainly worth the visit if you’re going to be in the area. You’ll get some beautiful views of the bayside of the Wildwood island and of course…beautiful sunsets while looking west.
