This dry rub recipe is simple to throw together. It can be used to season chicken or turkey. It’s also great to season wild game birds. Once you have everything mixed together store any leftover rub in a container or labeled baggie. I bought empty spice jars from Amazon that I use. Since I use this a lot…I like to double-up and triple-up the ingredients and store what I don’t use for another time. We use this dry rub when roasting, grilling or smoking chicken. It’s delicious!
Roasted Chicken Dry Rub Recipe
1 Tbsp. celery flakes
1 Tbsp. salt
1 Tbsp. dried paprika
1 tbsp. garlic powder
1 Tbsp. onion powder
1/2 tsp. thyme
1 tsp. sage
1 tsp. ground black pepper
1/2 – 3/4 tsp. red pepper flakes
1 tbsp. brown sugar
Place all of the above ingredients into a mixing bowl. Toss them together until blended. I like to store it in an empty spice jar so that I can use it as needed when I’m roasting or grilling chicken.
Moisten the chicken with a little bit of water and then rub the desired about of seasoning rub all over the chicken. If you’re roasting a whole chicken, make sure you get some of the seasoning inside the cavity. Great dry rub for roasting, smoking or grilling chicken.
